The II's would probably side with Halsey.
Wasn't she in custody? The SPARTAN-IIs (and maybe the -IIIs as well) will go up in flames if she dies.
At any rate it would never come down to all out war. The arms dealing was black ops, ONI would deny everything and High Command would find it easier to just let it go. That's what Black Ops are for...
Probably...with Lord Hood saying "Don't you dare keep my out of the loop again. EVER." And perhaps a change of leadership, as a conciliatory gesture? Admiral Parangosky could go into retirement and let her protege take over to placate Lord Hood and the rest of the UNSC High Command.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Custody of ONI. The Spartan II project is over at any rate and so is the Spartan 3 project. They won't go up in flames they'll likely just get pissed at whoever killed her... They probably won't care what he has to say. He's not some incredibly respected leader for ONI and they aren't scared of him. ONI ran black ops in order to create strife within the Sanghelli race. The Sanghelli are like Iran today. They have a government that has half the power. It shares power with the crazy religious freaks who are more than happy to start another war. Creating a war within the Sangelli race is probably the best thing for humanity. getting a peace treaty alongside this would be useful but not their main objective.

That person might find himself/herself left hanging when he/she needs help on the battlefield from the SPARTANS.

True...but he has a lot of influence in the UNSC High Command and in the UEG. But while ONI is certainly prudent, with Humanity up against the Forerunners/Precursors/Unknown Enemy, an alliance would certainly be the best option.

No idea as to which colour they become after they start to degrade. Could it be red? Cortana should be red...her systems are supposed to project a different color for her avatar when she goes rampant...unless she actually falls in love with John and goes meta-stable... *Ahem* Right...those guys John fought were Prometheans...the Forerunner equivalent of Spartans. They weren't drones, since Didact himself was a Promethean. And the last part was a Cryptum, kinda like a stasis cell. or she achieved stability because Dr. Halsay went into her memory and went and deleted years' worth of data, essentially extending her lifespan just a little bit before she went rampant. My reading also says that halsey is gone. Nobody knows where she is, but she has some II's and III's with her.

Please refresh my memory...when did this happen?

when Halsey got in touch with Cortana and John after making it off of Halo 1.
Then again, now I think about it, it really is irrelevant, because she got stuck with the gravemind. That would have overloaded her information and driven her to rampancy all over again, so maybe we can assume that gravemind's information overload snapped her past rampancy? hell if i know.
My reading also says that halsey is gone. Nobody knows where she is, but she has some II's and III's with her.
She's in custody of ONI.
as of when?

Go read glasslands, it tells a LOT you need to know if you follow the story. There were no holes in that plotline.

I enjoyed Halo 2, 3 and Reach but it makes me kind off sad to see taht Halo series is becoming the new CoD. seriously, another trilogy? but what would you expect from microsoft.
I suspect Reach held a high quality level only because Bungie was genuinely sorry for what they did with ODST.
And now Bungie is no longer responsible for the halo series we will see halo games every year.

Bungie were never solely responsible for Halo...
343 is mostly made up of the Bungie developers that worked on Halo...
Incidentally, AFAIK the Halo series always had a planned second trilogy.

Definitely will not be seeing a Halo every year; they don't have 2 studios working on it for one, like CoD does (or did).
ODST was excellent.

Makes no sense, ODST in my opinion was a better campaign than Reach for the most part.

it had a good campaign yes i admit. and firefight was cool too.
But what else was on the disc justifying the price?
Being somewhat skilled at halo i completed it on legendary in 5 hours, add some exploration to find collectibles thats maybe 2h and a few hours spent in firefight. thats 10-15 hours and then there is nothing to do. i guess that still makes it better than cod.

Honestly, I stopped caring about Halo multiplayer a long time ago.
In the end, playing competitive FPS on console is not for me. It's just to slow.
And I haven't played a halo game on anything else then Legendary since Halo 1. XD
