lol yea Your right. I was typing it up on notepad with all the totals, and must of deleted the real total. . Still 1850pt game would have all that and then some.

I'm wasn't trying to say your conclusion was wrong, just pointing it out
edit: The only thing that list lacks really is a way to deal with Flyers. Relying on Vector Strikes might not be the greatest solution.

HVC/VC is total crap in 6e as it is impossible for them to pen wreck anything but open topped now and glancing to death with an Assault 1 blast is just aweful.

Well the main problem with flyers and Nids, is they dont really have a good counter to flyers, ANYWAY. But yea, I thought that list would cause some people to scratch heads a few times.

I'm of the opinion that the Stranglethorn cannon trumps the HVC every time. The following changes to the core game are why:
1.) A penetrating hit can never wreck a vehicle if it has -1 to the damage chart. The Heavy Venom Cannon can never wreck a rhino.
2.) Instant Death and Bracketed Toughness - This one is big. Now the toughness value in brackets (plague marines, nob bikerz, marine bikers, etc) counts for all purposes as the actual toughness. This means that to instant death a nob biker, you need s10 weaponry, and s9 falls just short.
3.) Small Blast. - With pre measuring and foreknowledge of your blast weapons, the opponent will commonly disallow more than 2 models from ever getting hit by the template with legal placement. A good scatter might get you 3 hits total, but overall the damage done to enemy units is minimal with a single small blast.
4.) Stranglethorn cannon is pinning. Any chance to pin an enemy to the ground is beneficial to us, so that gives the StC a +1.
And finally, 5.) When paired with cluster spines, you have 2 large blasts coming out of a swooping MC that will be able to position itself and force saves on special/heavy weapons troopers, even without precision strikes. Add in the single per game spore mine drop and you have up to 3 more large blasts of damage.
Until such time as a kit is released with a potential anti aircraft weapon option, any harpies i would think of taking would automatically stay cheap with S. thorn cannons.
