Dude sweet models. Extra applaud for the ravengers, very nice bases.
Very good models.
Oh and friendly advice, read my signature. Black and white is cool, but save it for showcase.

I take pics in front of a mottled background, because white (without adequate lighting) turns out too dark. Black seemed to give me issues, too and I finally settled on what I use.

When I take final shots, I actually set things up a bit better. Everything on here is with my phone, so they look pretty crappy.

Also, a future project in the works... Starting to write fluff right now, but it is going to be the fulfillment of another dream army.

Sorry for dropping off the face of the planet. Life isn't always sunshine and happiness, that is for sure. After a major financial meltdown, I am working my way out of the hole. Not easy, but slowly getting there. That means my Ogre Kingdoms are on hold until I can either sell some stuff or get some extra cash... somehow.

The Dreadmaw are being drawn up, so don't despair. Just need to push them back a bit. A lot a bit, actually.

Also, I hit the single worst painting slump in my life. This means my poor commissions suffered greatly. That being the case, I tried to break my funk by painting some of my own stuff - which I did. It helped... some. I will hopefully have even more Tyranids finished this month (hopefully, the last of them). Then I move on to the remainder of my Allies, the three Malifaux crews on my table, and then my Skorne.

Down the road, Ogres.

Here are some shots of the Allies I painted the other day - did them quickly, with no fuss. All I need now are some Dry Decals for their chests and they are finished. They are loosely themed to the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles" - so no non-Americans in my force, so my Action Jackson (as well as Red Devils, Devil's Own, French Foreign Legion) are all Americanized.

So, finally getting a chance to paint my Skorne!

Going to get them all the bases done, then prime them all up, and start putting down the reds with the airbrush. Then, I will do up the gold trim, details, and whatnot.

Should be fun and I will try to update more regularly now that I am done with the Tyranid commission.

Here is what is in the pictures (mostly):

Going to try my hand at carving foamular board and stuff soon. Just need a paycheck or two to get some materials and whatnot. The general theme is desert for my Skorne, with a most likely traditional color scheme - though I have a few others I am considering. In one corner, I want a giant carved head that has been ruined and lost for a long while. On that, I will be able to put my Warlock. Beneath it, the rest of the army will be on the ground. Shouldn't be too hard to achieve, provided I can get the foamular looking right and find some good, cheap columns.

Anyhow, here is a general sketch of the idea:

Here is some O&G I did recently, though sadly these are not comprehensive pics of everything - just what turned out clear enough to salvage from my crappy phone pics before I shipped this off to its proper home. That being said, here is what I did get shots of:

Those Spider Riders were too fun! I want some for myself.

On an aside, I have about 13 Blood Angels coming my way - the last models of a commission I did last year.

Also, going to start on the Malifaux commission tomorrow, so expect pics of assembly/priming and base creation soon.

Just got the new PP plastics! Love them! Until now, I only had metal stuff for my Skorne.

Anyhow, added to my long list of stuff to paint are:

Max Arcuarii
Max Incindiarii
2x Reptile Hounds
Makeda & Court
Willbreaker

If a trade works out for me, I will be getting a Mammoth soon, too!
[Thumb - Arcuarii1.jpg]
Assembled - Might need to break those weapons back off to paint... silly hindsight!

Started a Malifaux commission. Doing the Ten Thunders, Ortegas, and Viktoria whatsits. I don't play it, so... yea, that is as good of identifiers as I can get for now. I will post some pics of them as I work on them.

Again, as always, excuse the crappy Instagram shots. They suffice for WIP stuff, but I will always try to follow up with serious pics when I finish.

Also, tried a technique for making moss on wood. Used some turf and glaze medium and it worked out all right. I think it needs some added color, but it will be fine for this.

So, here are some various things I have been up to. Mostly brainstorming up my Space Marines. With 6th Ed being so shooting oriented and my ability to create a Biker army a reality, I am looking heavily at the Storm Lords to replace my Carcharodons. While the latter was a dream army, my first love was always Bikers. Ran a proxy army of them through many 5th Ed games and was just not happy, but seeing that they are actually viable, I am leaning towards doing the White Scars successors because they are unique looking. My only worry is the canon concerning their helmet color. I think its just yellow always - though some folks think its company-based. That would be awful! Waiting on some more fluff for them before I 100% commit, but until then I have done some sketches for fun.

Also, I am (very) slowly working on those Malifaux models. I will have more updates Saturday, as I start wrapping up the Ten Thunders and moving on the the other two crews.

I know. Crappy Instagram stuff. Sorry! One day, I will not have such a crappy set-up and can do proper pictures. I swear, the white background isn't helping either.

Anyhow, like I said, this weekend I will post up some more work. And maybe, just maybe, that alleged White Scars supplement will come out someday and help me settle my Space Marine dilemma.

Oh, also. Sold my Dust Warfare army with hopes it can fund the remainder of my Skorne, as well as my dream Ogre Kingdoms army - the Dreadmaw Tribe! That will soon be what I am sketching, too, so expect that stuff to crop up soon.

Starting on a small Blood Angel commission - working on putting them together, cleaning them up, drilling barrels, and magnetizing the backpacks for either option.

I have 15 standard Assault Marines, five Death Company, and a Sanguinary Priest to do. So far, having fun. Has been quite a while since I did some Spehss Mahreens.

I tend to sketch a lot. Today, had the itch to do up a War Hound with twin Volkite Serpenta. Just messing about.

It has been a raining, humid mess here, so I can't prime those Blood Angels just yet. Maybe tomorrow!

I am skratchbuilfing my first 40k model at the momment (Macharius) and am looking ot have a battered and bruised old war dog look to it! Your simple but really effective IMHO breakdown on how acheve your end result was really cool!!

Thanks a bunch! I am glad you got something out of it. Its not really a tough technique and on vehicles it just looks great. When you get it up, post some pics and let us all see.

Sprayed the helmets today. Going to putty them and spray the bodies tomorrow. Then, I get to start in on the details. Each kneepad needs a squad mark, the shoulderpads need doing. Metallics and eyes, too. The Jump Packs need to be done, including engine glow. Got to do the entire Sanguinary Priest - which was requested to be GOLD! That should be fun, because I have Vallejo Liquid Gold to use, making it a breeze.

The helmets, by the way, will be washed along with the armor, so they look a bit bright.
[Thumb - BA Helmets.jpg]
Helmets done in three coats. Brown (over black), then yellow twice. I will add some edges near the end.

Yea, bad pic quality is my bread and butter. Ever since I went from doing commissions regularly to doing them for just locals for extra cash, I don't worry about the portfolio as much. That being said, enjoy these craptastic Instagram shots. No, they are not glossy - I had a harsh light on the stuff and for some reason, they had a hell of a shine.

Anyhow, going to try to round these out this week and get them 100% by next weekend or so. Tough given my new job, but I am trying.
