It's too bad I have so much against this particular store, I actually think the idea of a locally crowdscourced store could be really cool. Something like a publicly owned corporation, but on a much smaller and much more local scale, where the shareholders are the regulars and everyone is essentially small investment partners. Like a local games club but turned all the way up to 11 to be an actual store.
I'm not sure indiegogo or kickstarter would be the right format for that, it might be hard to get the word out and get funding from the local people you're trying to get together, but it seems like an instant gaming community if you could get it off the ground. You would definitely need a firm business plan for it though, and some dedicated people at the top with sound business experience, but the more I think about it, the more it has the potential to be freaking awesome.
