When does the Orb kick in? Also if the eintire unit is destroyed does the orb still even function? I do not own a 'Cron book and can only remember the old rules.

Ahh no I misread, Fragile is right. RP kicks in at the end of the phase and the orb changes the parameters for RP (4+ instead of 5+).

What about a Necron Overlord, Destroyer Lord with resurrection orbs or even Nemesor Zahndrekh (has orb as part of wargear)? Does the orb become useless if the unit is destroyed around them?
I only ask because the orb only applies to the IC and his unit; so if his unit is destroyed and he becomes a unit of one then that would mean the rest of his (former) unit wouldn't benefit.

If the unit (with RP, not EL) is destroyed they couldn't come back anyway. The check is made at the end of the current phase so anyone still attached to an IC with an orb would benefit.

Oops, didn't see second page. Hah.
