Making Scopes grant a reroll of 1s to hit doesn't work.

Do you know why?

95% of Godwyn De'az pattern bolters have scopes on. 60% of models armed with a Godwyn De'az pattern bolter have the special ability to gain a reroll of 1st to hit.

So, by making scopes grant Preferred Enemy (which is what you're basically suggesting), you're invalidating half of an already nerfed power.

At the same time, Precision Shots or +1 BS is too much.

So, I like the reduced coversave idea. I also had another thought, so I'll combine them into one;

Scope: A stationary model with a Scop may elect to forgo firing their weapon multiple times in order to choose one of the following options;

  • [*] Reduce the target's Cover Save by 1 step
    [*] Inflict Instant Death on models with two or fewer wounds.


  • This is to represent aiming past intervening obstacles... and, of course, grants the ever-popular "sniper headshot".
