Alright guys and gals, today is my final game with Zerkova for this go in the league. I am super excited for the game because this has been a long time coming. This has been the first time I have truly played a caster right through from 15 to 50.
I have learned so many things and improved my game play considerably. The idea of having a caster that does nothing for your army and quite honestly the worst caster to faction match-up in the game but still able to pull out some crushing victories. What she does is make a player learn how to rely on units and terrain with no support to eek out a win.
Before playing Zerokva I use to rely on my casters abilities alone to win a game but she forces you to play a more complete game. I have always played more jack heavy before her but now I have found that infantry is where it is at with her. I've got four infantry units, one jack, one battle engine and one cav solo in the list today. So basicly a super focus light army since you need the focus to keep her alive.
This concept of one jack armies was so far from my thinking when I started but I am seeing how well does. Everytime I am making a list now with my Khador with other casters I am trying to build around infantry first and heavies as what kind if support they can offer. This approach has made the other casters look better and better since the infantry core ofbthe lists are supported well by spells and feats which Zerkova didn't do. I can saw her devil may care fluff when it comes to the jacks and infantry of the motherland as long as she gets what she wants really translates into her play style. Can't remember the number of times I have sacraficed a unit just to allow her to move up to razor wind or to get out of Dodge.
This 50 point game is not so much about me learning her play style any more or how unit work with her. Today is more about having fun with the final day of this league. If I get stomped today oh well, it is about enjoying the game. If I win today it will be great but if not oh well.
I will post again after them game and then start my true wrap up of Zerkova, the units played and lessons learned over the last several months of gaming. I will see you all later.
