Dropped him when he was 95% finished (I still cringe when I think back on it) and bent that accursed micro-joint flat against his hand. Needless to say, there was no righting it - it snapped as soon as I thought about bending it back into place. Took quite a few tries to get it reattached with superglue ( way too small to pin) and now I'm afraid to take him out of the display cabinet, lest a draft float through and snap it in half again.
I feel your pain fellow Haqqislamite, I've been clipping the tabs off all my Haqqs in order to mount them on acrylic bases, but after trying to glue the Ragik doing a ballet dance back on to a slottabase to paint via that tiny little tippy toe, I don't think he'll ever be seeing gameplay :(

Most of my finecast, namely Sangiunors wings, Astorahs Axe and Mephs sword have bent or snapped so far, Meph was done in blister but heated the bend out quite nice, have yet to do sangs wing though and reglued astorahs axe three times now.

OK I recently ordered both Necron Wraiths and a Ghost Arc and got them just a few days ago and after what I've read on this post I'm afraid to even open the boxes....are they THAT flimsy?
So far, I'd have to say pretty much everything Finecast. Most staves on my Necron Overlord, Crypteks and Lords have broken from time to time. Apart from those, my Fantasy OnG Giant and Arachnarok, mostly due to their size and many components, and usually during storage. They've never broken so far, but I'm terrified every time I have to carry them.

Well the first thing that sprang into mind where the arms of my metal howling banshees.
Then I remembered also about the metal eldar war walkers of which the weapons keep falling off.

Sure, those multiple "sections" on the haft look cool - but they weaken it like nothing else. I've had 9 of those b^^tards break in the last year - just in storage. The metals were no better for this.
As for the FW Avatar's spear. A mate of mine replaced the entire shaft of it with brass rod and fitted the main parts back onto it.
How are you storing your GK?

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?" |

I have no problems with my GKs, when playing, storing or just on display, even my old metal ones arms hold pretty well and rarely have to fix them.
However although its not use very often i have massive problems with the patent engine, even with pins it like to fall apart when you just breath near it. Same can be said about the old metal talos (again not used often), id say those are about on par with my worst.

I couldn't say to be honest, I build my stuff to last, pinning if necessary. In over 10 years of collecting, gaming and lugging my models around I've had less models break than I can count on one hand. Only one of them was from storage/fragility, a scratchbuilt antenna on a termie sgt. Beyond that it's been accidents, one opponent dropped one of his minis on a metal lascannon marine so his backpack came off... another bumped a building so shrike took a dive from a 3rd floor (backpack again).
0.5mm pinning, proper plastic glue for chemical bonding and strong superglue, takes actual effort to break my stuff. I struggle to tear arms/weapons off when I need to change between codexes.

My Battletech Marauders have been pinned through the hip, pinned at both elbows, pinned to their feet, and still fall apart. Same glue I use on other models that stay together fine...

Custom foam trays (got them off a mate who got them made up - I don't know if they are by BF or KR). 40mm circles x 50mm deep. Not hard, not soft foam.
They live in a cupboard and neither end of the halberds touches the boundaries of their slots.
Those hafts go from 1.5mm down to 0.6mm and that is the weak point.
Not that it matters. They can break all they like now that I've stopped playing 40k.
Another 10 years and they'll probably just go into a skip (I can't be arsed using ebay - and I have no offspring to pass them off to, and no relatives who have produced gamers).
