@Reecius: For the team event; if our two teams are Desperate Allies on the chart in the rulebook, do we need to declare which army is primary detachment and which is secondary?

So like Crimson Fists and Orks team-up, if the orks are secondary, they cannot score or deny....

How do the "Best Of" awards work now that 40K uses allies? Is it based on whatever the primary detachment is?

How does the "3 Objective Markers on 25mm bases, 2 Objective Markers on 40mm bases." is t per player or team?
And What do you mean by the amount of kill points on the List?
Isnt a kill point 1 per unit?

I will add to the question pile-on: any idea if you'll be organizing a shuttle service from the BART station? That would be pretty neat. If not, any idea how much cab fare I'll have to eat?

I was told there'd be a shuttle at 3, 6 and 9 PM Friday. This was onfirmed this week (on the podcast I think?) as well as added that anyone coming in Thursday might be able to make an arrangement to get a ride.

In checking all options I did see that public transportation was an option (at least google maps seemed to think so) although it includes a 20 minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel.

Thanks for the info! Figured it might be something like that...too bad my flight doesn't land until 10pm Friday. Heard any mention of a shuttle on Monday? Funny to think the flight will likely be the least painful part of traveling out there..!

No word on a shuttle Monday. I wasn't as worried about getting out of Antioch on Monday.

It might be worth a call to the hotel to see if they provide any sort of shuttle. Many do and a pickup from bay point bart seems like it could be somewhat common. Dunno though.

No worries about the questions guys, that is what I am here for!

Allies in the Team Event: Yes declare which army is primary and has the ability to score objectives.

Best of Awards only apply to the primary detachment or an army. So, IG with allied Sisters would be competing only for best of IG.

The objective counters are per team.

A Kill Point is indeed 1 per unit.

To get on the waiting list, email me your contact information at: contact@frontlinegaming.org

There will indeed be a BART shuttle, we are running it at 3, 6, and 9pm.

If a number of you fellas are coming in later, we can organize a 4th shuttle time. We want to make sure it is as easy as possible for folks to get there and away.

We will be running folks to the BART station after the awards on Sunday, and we can run another on Monday, that is no problem. I will set up a time for that this week and we'll post it on the site and on the Podcast, and again here to get the word out.

Next year we are going to a hotel for sure, we just hesitated to do it this year as with 6th being so new, we wanted to minimize our financial risk. But with how much we've grown this year, next year we'll be able to negotiate a good deal on a hotel that will be close to an airport to make it much easier to attend. This will be the last bash in the barn!

I like the barn, It's very "Tailgate" friendly

Heck... I keep saying you should have some one come out and set up a BBQ and sell burgers.

The barn rules. Hotels close by and pretty cheap. Various types of food stations within walking distance of the hotels. Tons of parking (for free). Lots of space between tables (which are 8' giving ample room for armies, dice books, etc).

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

Yeah, the barn (it's not actually a barn though, just a huge, open building at the fairgrounds) does have a lot of positives. We just always get some complaints about the venue. Now that we have lots of folks flying in, being closer to an airport would be better, and the fact that we will be going to at least 200 players for 40K alone next year means we can get a good deal on a hotel. It won't be as cheap as the BAO traditionally is, but that is the trade off.

So for now, the barn is going to be rockin one last time!

The FAQ,

OK, here's an update. We have a group of the major TO's in the country on a conference call tonight to hammer out some of the last details on a universal tournament FAQ.

We should have that this week, if not the BAO will put up a temporary FAQ to get you guys ready to roll.

Sorry for the delay, but there are more hands in this cookie jar than just my own.

I still say keep the barn (maybe rent rubber standing mats) and do a festival style 40k tournament. Its uniqe and very California.

What, bad accoustics, no climate control, poor amenities, and no easy food options? That doesn't say "California" to me. I'll give you "difficult to get there," though.

You've never been to an outdoor music fest? If there were a food stand or two and some live music you would be at one (down to the concrete smelly bathrooms).

I like the barns, I do hate the bathrooms.

Acoustics play a minor role in the whole deal. It didn't really get hot last year, but you are at the mercy of Mother Nature.

I agree that food trucks or something would be an awesome add. Mediocre sandwiches and pizza are not that awesome.

I dig the space though, I hate trying to play on 6ft tables and I even more hate playing on tables with no space on the end. BAO has neither of those, well few of those. Last year, Table 1 was in the far NE corner, so the one short edge was up against the wall. Just a slight hindrance for checking LOS and stuff.

During the event itself? None. The fairgrounds are about 5-10 (driving) minutes away from anything. That 10 minutes does get you to the usual collection of fast food & chain restaurants, though.

You can, however, bring whatever you want on-site. (I'd suggest not bringing illegal substances.)
