A Golden Demon winner by Ben Komets - 'The Last Survivor', Not my work, obvs, but my absolute favourite 40k diorama. Maybe some inspiration!

Ah I remember that diorama! Loved it!

My project is still in its early phases (ie shopping for a base model to cut apart) so no pics here xD

Purchased a base for my vehicle last night. It will remain top secret for now... but I can give some hints... it measures 14" long....

14" long? Crashed Thunderhawk?

I'd like to encourage people to post WIPs but I know it feels like giving the game away, I didn't want to post any of my last competition entry. Maybe when we reach the halfway point everyone could post what they have so far?

Well, I've got to build the tension somehow *geez*

But yes that, when I get my thing there may be more teasers.

yeah I didn't mean you should post a picture of a 14" long bit base or anything, just that it would be good to get lots of WIP images from everyone a bit later on. I didn't want to post my WIPs as I felt it gave too much away and I guess a lot of people will feel the same.

Yeah honestly I don't have a problem posting WIP's, especially as others post theirs and the deadline gets closer. But there's got to be some mystery I think, it makes everything more fun.

Good start. Is that a Street Fire car? I used a bunch of those on my road (http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/402476-Ruined%20road.html?m=2)

What is that in front of it? Looks like a scooter.

The car is a burago 1/43 land rover, and up front is a snowmobile, 1/43, matchbox...

I've been looking at large rusting shipwrecks as well... they're the funkiest I think, it's hard to link though because the best pics online are from stock photo websites.

That makes me very happy to see a GD winner where a human gets to use otherwise OP Space Marine vehicle! It also has a cool post-apoc vibe to it.

Interesting, it looks like the last recorded image from some lunar rover before it got destroyed by a space ghost.

If I finish my Corvega that I started 6 months ago, will it count?

Yeah I should think so. You could always make a vehicle from The Hobbit though if you wanted, like Gandalf's cart or erm... some sort of special short bus for dwarfs.

(I've not seen the Hobbit, I guess it probably doesn't have many vehicles in it).

Moving on from the awesome drop pod scene - and boy is that good... I've always loved this piece, so atmospheric and maybe could provide some inspiration to others?

Man, I really gotta get on with actually doing some work to my piece rather than just looking at others work, the clock is ticking !

That old dead dread is quite amazing, the worn/aged paint is a really good effect - I like how it hasn't been painted in a bright rust, I pretty sure that space marine armour wouldn't rust anyway as it is a ceramic compound isn't it?

Good to see more entrants, if the prize is not to your taste I can always build a custom model that might be more suitable.
