Nope. Blood Angels can't take the Lucius Drop Pod. And thank God for that.

When did that happen? They used to be able to.

Hellhounds. They're cheap, tough (for what you pay), and can cause an insane amount of damage.

Unfortunately, they compete with Vendettas...

In fact, I think the Valkryie loses out most from that. 140 points for an AV12 flyer with two large blasts, a multi-las and two heavy bolters. Dakka, pie plates and cheap armour - the epitomy of the Imperial Guard.

It's a shame Valkryies are laughably expensive or I'd probably try them out.

No kidding.

Although, my last post said, I apparently am the only one who thinks Sentinels are nice to take from my experience hehe.

Armoured sentinals are okay if you want armour saturation. They're also one of the few units in the guard codex that can stand being assaulted by most units.

Problem is if you want armoured dakka, they just don't compete with Russes. 75pts for a single plasma cannon...Executioners are 190 points for 3 plasma cannon shots, and are AV14 to boot. Then you may as well stick sponsons on them.

I suppose they might be effective if you really spammed them though. I've never tried.

Ethereal would also draw fire from every gun on the board. When you add a self-destruct button to your list your opponents goal becomes pretty straightforward.

I take it you don't play 40k. Ever try to kill a team of 3 broadsides with 5 shield drones in a ruin that's got them on multiple levels? You can't with shooting. My ethereal has never died. Not once.

Yeah, I have. And it's not as difficult as you think since you just pour small arms fire till the drones are dead then hit it with some heavy firepower till the broadsides are dead. And now that precision shots are a thing, it's even more likely that the ethereal will get taken down.

The broadsides were already a prime target, now you're adding even more incentive to throw everything they have at them. What game do you play where Ap2 and S8+ don't exist?

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

In fifth, I ran numerous lists with nine sentinels,. Usually three scout with autocannons or multilasers for flanking, and, six armored with either plascans or heavy flamers, as either extra plasma blasts or an assault unit.

Then plenty of tanks as well.

You forgot to mention if that actually worked?

If I was going to spam them at 1500 points, I'd take 9 plasma sentinals, 3 vanilla Russes and a couple of vet squads with a CCS. That's about 12 AV12s and 3 AV14s. At 1500 points. If I count up all the dreadnaughts and DPs amongst my friends though we only have about 6.

It worked to a degree, but since I don't involve myself in tournaments, that probably doesn't matter.
