Subject: If your opponent wrote a 1999 point list, would you make them play a 2000 point game?

Personally I'm of the mind that if the rules say something, that's how it works. So if someone wants to play a 1999 point game, that's fine by me, but I will instead offer to play 1850 because it's a less weird points size, and I already have lists prepared for 1850. I'd still play 1999 points though. When someone tells me they want to play "1999+1" points, I see it as them intentionally ignoring the rules for their own benefit, because they don't want to retool their army to be able to deal with an enemy with double FOCs. A few people I've talked to seem to think that if you have 2000 points, you must have two charts, when instead it's you may, so that may be a reason someone doesn't like it.

I can't answer this will a poll. The points limit would always be decided between me and my opponent. If we agree to have 2k points, that's double FOC and that's fine.
If we decide 1999 points then it's a 1999 battle. There's no leeway either way, as I see it.

Just curious... What codexes are gimped by playing 1 FOC at 2000 points versus how many broken combos can you come up with opening up 2 FOC?
'
6 helldrakes... 6 long fanks... 6 helldrakes + 6 obliterators... 12 contemptor dreads...
Min/maxing, you can get your obligatory 4 troops and 2 hqs for about 500 points... that leaves you a lot of room to cheese it up.

Can you make a decent, all corners list by cheesing it like that? Some of those seem like they wouldn't do enough things in the right matchup (12 contemptors, really)

Yeah they seem great on paper but it starts to become throwing all you eggs into one basic, for example I played against 3 helldrakes at 1k the other day, and it just got slaughtered.

I actually like the FOC. I like that little extra constraint because it means people arnt going to spam things like elites and heavy armor so if someone suggested a 1999 I would be okay.
I would first okay if I could run a 1999+1 list and if not I would just remove something small like melta bombs off my Commissar (gaks and giggles) and run with 1995

Yes I would.
If he then didn't want to pay I'd force him to play.
If necessary I'd nail his hand to the table to keep him there while we play.
There is nothing more important than Warhams.
Everyone must play RAW and they must play it with a competitive list. Not too competitive because that's cheesy.
If they try to run I usually break their kneecaps with a hammer and force them to play.

The fact remains that short of official tourney's most of us play for fun. All of my lists run an average of 2k points. I could care less if my opponent wants to set the limit at 2k and uses the new double FOC. All that means is that I might have to try harder to beat them. Not one of my armies is cheesy or OP I chose what I chose and thats what I play with.

Don't be absurd.
It's really difficult to use a warhammer while running after someone. Even if you have pinned them down it's difficult because you need two hands.
A regular hammer is one handed and though it may take a bit longer it's easier to wield and you have time to spare since you can keep them pinned down.

I could say that somebody who insists on double FOC is a WAAC donkeycave who only wants to spam 6 Heavies or something absurd.
I could say that somebody who refuses double FOC is a WAAC donkeycave who doesn't want to change his omgh4x uberlist.
Or, I could be a grown up and just politely discuss it with my potential opponent and go from there.

If I'm told beforehand that it's going to be 2k points with single FOC, I'm fine with that. If I just show up for a random game at 2k points though, I'll probably assume 2 FOC

+1, you can even play 1900 or 1950 if you really want. I dont like how some armies can do much better in one force org than others. I like to play at 1500 or 2500 much more than around 2000 anyway.
