Really great suggestions here. I grew up watching AMC back when it was all old (pre 1980) movies and I have a soft spot for these films.

I find it curious that no one has mentioned my personal favorite classic film Lawrence of Arabia. Great Story, Epic battles, etc, etc. I'd put it up there with Zulu.

Also, I enjoyed the 1939 version of "The 4 feathers" which is a wonderful film, not to be confused with the absolutely terrible, re-revisionist garbage that was the 2002 version.
