Broadsides are one of those all or none units. Mainly because of the price lol people either dont have them because 1 is kinda dumb and its pricy, or they got the money so BAM 3-6 broadsides lol.

I have 3 new ones and 3 old ones. Gotta refurbish the old ones before i can use them though since theyre on old bases still.

my ork list is now,

24 bikers, 2 bik bosses with Pks,

3 battle wagons, 20 boys each,
1 trukk, full of boys,
30 shootas,

17 grots

I would love to try it against tau... 72 S+C boys + 26 bikes must die in one turn, or they are in combat the 2nd...

so far, with the lack of av 14 being in the meta, I have only lost one BW turn one, against grav spam centurions,

would love to see how it does against tau, they seem to have less anti av 14 right now.. I dont even SEE broad sides anymore

How many points is that??

We will play 1250pts...

Battle wagon spam is definitely a viable option. I have always been a fan of killa kans too, haven't really seen them being used aginst tau so I don't know how they stack up. Theoretically they should turn the battle suits into battle bits.

i think kans would just fall over lol. A single riptide could rip them a new one before they get to shoot anything. Or missilesides since 18" is nowhere near as good as 36" lol. thats about 2 turns the missilesides have to dakka the kans down.

The single Tau Player I play against takes as many Str 7 missiles as possible, at BS5, Twin-linked and Ignoring cover thanks to Markerlights and such. One unit of suits with drone controller and 4 drones put out an ungodly amount of firepower.

My 10 Ork plus dual BikerBosses can't make it across the board to assault even with FNP and Cybork saves.

The only answer I have is Inv saves for everyone. I just bought a landing pad 2 weeks ago and put 12 Lootas in a looted wagon x3 on it. So far I've only played against a Dark Angels player and a Space Wolves player and they both hate it.

Will probably be going up against Tau this week again (league games) and ill try it out.

My only other answer is Dual 10-Ork BikerNobz each with a BikerBoss. That comes out to 1500 exactly so the rest is just as many Lootas as I can fit.

Wait, either i misred that or is he counting drone controller to work against missile drones? and taking missiledrones on any unit? Only broadsides can get those drones and they do not benefit from drone controllers. Riptides have similiar but tougher (and more expensive) versions but thats it. Also markerlights cannot make something twinlinked, just up the BS to more than 5.

Yeah, he uses a drone controller on his 2+ save battle suits with the missile drones. Not legal?

Also his Psyker Twin-links his missile suit/drone squad. Essentially he has 7 models firing 4 Str. 7 missiles a piece, Twin-linked at BS 5 and of course they ignore cover and almost always wound.

Missile drones are excluded from the drone controller buff, and even then they dont auto buff to BS5 they buff to the model with the DC's bs so they would be BS3 if it worked at all not BS5.

Only reason those drones are great anyway is because youre already upping the BS with marker support anyway. Less likely than the normal shots from the broadsides since they arent twinlinked and will be BS4 not 5 when you use 4 markerlights (ignore cover +2BS) but its still 12 more shots that have good odds to land after that lol

In summary Orks can:
1) BW spam, full of boyz, with little support of Lootas back on the table. But KFF HQ or Big Boss PK?
2) Footslogga army. Like 4x30 boyz and some Lootas behind. But KFF HQ or Big Boss PK?
3) Dakkawaaagh. 2 SAG, gretchin wall, Big Gunz, Looted vehicle, Dakkajet and lot of Lootas.

I think all 3 alternatives do have their advantage...

The key for me is to deploy second and outrange Tau with Lootas and Lobbas, since we can't out dakka them at close range.

One simple fix would be all it takes to bring back Orky balance against ALL opponents:

The KFF needs to behave exactly the same way except grant a 5+ Inv instead of a 5+ cover against shooting attacks.

That one change would be all that is needed until the new codex comes out.

Just underlining the most important part. I agree.

Yes, if they did that it would make the KFF value sky rocket. Thats an easy errata change too. But at this point i doubt they'll do it or anything else until the codex drops.

it evn makes more sense to be a damn invul save since its a FORCE FIELD not a smoke screen lol

Wouldnt doubt it if the whole unit buff from it goes away too, since theres quite a bit of bubble-effects that are only model by model now. But if they do that due to the sheer numbers we usually have, they would have to double or more the range of it or it wont hit anything lol.

Yeah, the rules have changed back and forth through the years, it used to be 4+ cover to vehicles and 5+ to everything else.

A simple 5++ to all units friend or foe wouldn't be too over powered IMHO. Plus it would be simple for the lack of good allies Orks can take.

I hope there will be a Blood Axe supplement which will allow better allies since they are mercenaries. But that's too OT.

5++ Inv would solve a lot of the issues versus Tau. And they can always Percision shot the Big Mek, who still is only one of two HQ's in normal games.
