There are two rules in affect - Flyers can only be hit by Snap Shots. Blasts and Templates cannot hit Flyers.

Skyfire only overrides one of these.

Not arguing that they cannot hit them, just that they can target them with skyfire.

Which would do what? On direct hit the flyer can't be hit, and on a scatter (unless it is a skimmer) the unit hit can't be affected as the blast was not fired as a snap shot.

Well I would not attempt such shenanigans but one could do so trying to hit nearby ground units they could not directly target for some reason. It is detailed earlier in the thread.

Which is not possible, as the ground units would only be hit with snap shots (Unless the weapon had Interceptor as well as Skyfire), and the blast was not fired as a snap shot. HJ Explained this as well.

No such rules exists. There is a restriction with skyfire stating you must fire on ground targets as snap shots but since you did not fire at them it does not apply. Hard To Hit protects Zooming flyers from scattering blasts. No such protection exists for ground units.

Skyfire does not actually say that. The real wording is:

"A model with this special rule, or that is firing a weapon with this special rule, fires using its normal ballistic Skill when shooting at Flyers, Flying Monstrous Creatures and Skimmers Unless it also has the Interceptor special rule, it can only fire snap shots against other targets." P.42

Scattering onto another target, and not a snap shot, means Blasts can not hit them as per the FaQ precedent.

You look for a precedent when there is no clear answer and the FAQ your referring to added several restrictions to firing at and hitting Zooming Flyers and Swooping FMCs. Believing that FAQ alters how skyfire interacts with the 'other units' it refers to is outside of RAW.

Just because they added to one rule does not mean others are automatically added to because of precedent.
