The closure of Free Radical Design does not mean that the "rights to Battlefront 3" defaulted to Lucas Arts, nor does it mean that Disney's acquisition of Lucas Arts included those rights.
I didn't say that they lost the rights when they were closed, I said they had the rights taken from them.
Also why wouldn't disney now have the rights to battlefront 3 when they bought lucas arts and all things starwars lock stock and barrel?

That's not necessarily how it works, as evidenced by what happened with "No One Lives Forever".
Now what's interesting is this article which was posted just yesterday.
It could be nothing or it could be something. Time will tell, but considering that EA's license is for next gen consoles not the current gen...it could be something.
Also:
I'm totally willing to admit I might be wrong in regards to all my speculation here.

I was trying to find a picture of jesus with his arms outstreched so I could photoshop in an obtuse angle and the words "Jesus you're so obtuse!" but I don't have photoshop. anyway... Let a poor fanboy dream. Though I don't think disney would mess up when it came to license rights for any of their properties. But I could also be wrong.

The big thing which I had been basing my speculation upon was that prior to what I found yesterday, there was no mention -at all- of the Battlefront property as having transferred from one developer to the other.
It's not uncommon for certain titles to be considered their own property rather than part of an overall license/property.
Also worth mentioning that my second link states that Star Wars: 1313 was up for renewal as well.

That's not a possibility, that's a certainty. The former CEO's comments on microtransactions are pretty infamous, and I don't believe EA has disavowed the "charge them to reload in the middle of a firefight" model.

Even though disney is filled with satanic fat cat creepers i think this is a good move for the series.
Dice is a very talented group as is bioware... I expect great things from EA's slaves which is disney's slave.
Hopefully EA and especially Disney have no say in the game design.

I think a few of the EA's previous titles prove that they will have quite a say in things.

Anyone who thinks EA doesn't have a say in games made by EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment is being naive. What do they think happened to Dead Space, Sim City, and Need for Speed? EA and the mega-publishers pretty much do nothing but interfere in game design.

Electronic Arts has opened a new DICE studio in Los Angeles, with a key focus around bolstering the creation of new video games in the Star Wars franchise.
Although the DICE headquarters will continue to be situated in Stockholm, Sweden, the company's general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson told the Wall Street Journal [subscription required] that this new U.S. studio will have around 60 staffers by the end of 2013.
The move comes just a week after EA managed to secure an exclusive multi-year agreement with Disney to develop and publish games based on the Star Wars universe. DICE's Star Wars games will be powered by its high-powered Frostbite 3 engine, the same engine that powers Battlefield 3.
Troedsson noted that this new studio opening will see the company going head-to-head in the same Southern California area as its rivals, Activision's Infinity Ward and Treyarch Call of Duty operations.
"There is an extreme talent pool over [there] that we want a part of," he said. "It's no secret that our main competitor is there."
The new studio has begun hiring, with a number of EA employees who worked on the Medal of Honor series already on board. It is not yet completely clear to what extent this studio will be working on the Star Wars franchise alongside the main DICE studio in Sweden.
The opening of this new studio comes as EA recently laid off approximately 10 percent of its overall workforce -- around 900 workers in total.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

90's programming acumen and Star Wars gave us TIE Fighter and Dark Forces.
This is a good combination for simulators and shooters.
