We have 2 eldar players in my store, and neither of them have played eldar since the new dex hit. They are too busy playing Tao.
On the flip side, we had a whopping 1 Tao player, then the new dex hits and there are 5 of them.
We got 2 new DA players, but that is because they just starting playing 40k in general.
We still only have 2 csm players, and one of them rarely plays anymore, the other has put his focus into other armies.
Ironicly, we got more cron players after the tao dex hit, way more than the tao players.
I'm picking up daemons, as the only person who played them around here moved several months before the new dex, and I love cc armies.

Jancoran wrote:Yup. The thing to remember about all the codex's though, and maybe especialy Eldar, is that they are very MUCH about the aesthetic. I mean the hwole reason you CHOOSE an army is rarely for its competitiveness. Its because you love the aesthetic and the IDEA. Competing comes later.
Eldar are decent, they will NOt be blown out by people and they now function like they ought.
Except to the Eldar the idea of shooting at something before it gets to you is completely anathema in 40k.
Range to deal with threats far away? Bah, we'll get closer where we have a stronger chance of dying in droves to solidify the end of our race.
Interceptor to deal with those flyers/deepstrikers before they nuke something of ours? Bah, who cares if we lose much needed Eldar...we'll react and kill.
Still doesn't 'feel' like the Eldar are properly represented in 40k yet, but it is better.

I'm a little lost on what you are saying. Eldar hve a plethora of 36" weapons they can field, good ones. they have the ability to shoot and jump BACK with almost everything. How much more squirrly can you ask them to be?
I'm fine with them. I've always been fine with them really. They won't ever be top tier because they are prone to squashing. But they will always be dangerous and fun.

Eh, my local gaming scene is Space Marines, Necrons, Tau, a smattering of Dark Eldar Players and Me. So yeah, other than myself (and I'm loving the new book) no-one's really batted an eyelid at the new Eldar, not even the Dark Eldar players.
In a way it's a shame, since they're such a great army, but on the flipside I like being the only Eldar player around. And the only Ork player. And the only Tyranid player.

Heaven forbid people buy into a new version of a codex with new minis and the like. The only "real" eldar players are those who played for years with an old outdated codex. Everyone else is a poseur!
Hahahahahaha...yeah sure...
