No new eldar players in my circle, but more Eldar allies and the Eldar players we do have have been more active.

I am, and remain, the only Eldar player in a club of about 50 people.

And that's the way I like it!

I think it also has allot to do with how scarce some of the models were when it dropped.

This is a very area specific thing of course. I have NOT seen more of Eldar than i did before, frankly and we have a big pool.

I am an anomaly because I own a ton of armies (Sisters, Tau, GK, Chaos Marines, Eldar, Dark Eldar, IG, Space Marines, Blood Angels) and a massive model count. So i alternate a ot anyways and when new codex's come out I always play about 20 games with them to know the enemy as well as possible. My actual tourney armies have always been Tau and Sisters of Battle, but I've competed with the others as well. So for me the new codex meant learning.

But I have seen no uptick in Eldar players. Eldar purchases ARE up amongst the actual Eldar players though!

This may be a flavor of the month thing but it's driven all the prices up on Ebay. It's killing those of us who are looking for good deals as they're sweeping up all the older metal models and leaving the rest of us with Finecast... :_(

We haven't seen a single new Eldar model at our venue or any existing players pick up the army if they didn't have it already.

I jumped on the bandwagon - I already loved the Eldar models, and the Iyanden scheme, so the new codices were an awesome surprise.

Yup, a lot of positives for the codex. I cant explain it exactly but the last few codex's feel like they "work the way they are supposed to". that was one thing I always said: I dont care about the points as long as they are in line with the models abilities AND... And the model does what it SEEMS like they should do.

Im a Dungeons and Dragons junkie so I need the suspension of Duisbeleif thing. And sometimes you look at the model or the fluff and ask: "well then why the hell didn't they give it X.Y and Z? Id gladly pay tyhe price for it to do those things so that it all makes sense". the last few codex's have really delivered in that regard.

I skipped DA to play Chaos. I also skipped Tau to play Eldar. In our area, there hasn't really been a huge jump to eldar. Mainly, it's the players un-retiring their old eldar. I am one of the exceptions, playing eldar for the very first time. All the other eldar players in my area have been playing them before the new codex and continue to do so.

I was one of the few players near me that picked up Eldar when the new codex dropped, I had always been looking at them for the past few years, but my guard was priority and now that I've got the core of what I wanted of them and waited till the new dex came out I've picked up about 1000pts so far but its been fairly slow and will continue to be so with prices being the way they are and what not.

Well I can only say what I've heard, but one of the salesmen at my LGS basically told me "when Tau dropped everybody started buying Tau. Nobody's been interested in Eldar."

Then again, when I called Frontline Gaming to place a Tau order (apparently they place orders by email now. Kind of sad. I was actually looking forward to calling up a phone number and talking to an actual person) the person who answered the phone said, instead of hello I might add, "I bet you're calling about the Eldar pre-release". So I guess they did get some kind of attention.

No idea why, but Eldar is kind of a "non-faction" for me. I do not find them interesting, nor have I even seen an Eldar model on the tabletop (they remain the only I army I have never even observed in action. Heck' I watched Black Templars play once upon a time).

I suppose it's because everything I like about them (advanced technology, units that can fill a specialist role, not being complete bastards all the time), I like about the Tau, but like it more with Tau, if that makes any sense.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Yeah Dark Eldar were like that for me: ghosts whispered of but never seen o nthe table. I had four games against Dark Eldar in 7 years before finally seeing the new codex drop. And then suddenly there were Dark Eldar players. But before that...and even recently... ghost town USA

The army costs too much to start fresh. Too many serpent are needed. The tau can be done cheaper with infantry models and if someone doesnt care about looks the same goes for the suits . The only big investment is 1-2 riptides .

This is probably true. Most Eldar players are older players returning.

Well, in our group DA, Tau, and Daemons got some attraction by several players building up new armies or dusting them off the shelves. Not sure about Eldar as I'm the only regular player of the higher elves.

Lucky you. I have 6 of them and they were always useful (bar 4th edition when Falcons ruled).

I've got six of them too. I'm actually glad that I'm the only Eldar player in my area. It is as it should be. Rare to see Eldar for all of the Imperials. Mostly we see a lot of Space Marines, Orks, Tau, Chaos Space Marines with allied Daemons, Necrons, and Imperial Guard.

"Khorne is a noble warrior who respects strength and bravery, who takes no joy in destroying the weak, and considers the helpless unworthy of his wrath. It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."

Serpents: the more the merrier. I think six is a good number, four for troops and two for elite.

Quite a few in my area, one of which is the typical all wraith army that everyone seems to think is the new OP. Im suprised they havent realised how mediocre all wraith lists are, because theyre only doing it because they think its really powerful. I guess thats where a lot of the new release army starters come from though.

The thing about Eldar is that they have such a unique aesthetic that some players are naturally drawn to them while others are repulsed. The diehards who love their eldar are coming out of the woodwork now with their brand spanking new codices in hand. Eldar will be on the scene for a while to come no doubt.

Yup. The thing to remember about all the codex's though, and maybe especialy Eldar, is that they are very MUCH about the aesthetic. I mean the hwole reason you CHOOSE an army is rarely for its competitiveness. Its because you love the aesthetic and the IDEA. Competing comes later.

Eldar are decent, they will NOt be blown out by people and they now function like they ought.

I submit to you that the die hards are not the ones who put their Eldar away during the lean years of 5th edition and the first year of 6th. Those returning to the fold now are fair weather fans, those who like the Eldar, but not enough to play them when it's an uphill slog. The die hards never gave up.

I have actually started eldar after the new codex was released, I had originally liked the chaos marines but I found that on the board and painting table they were bland. I looked up the eldar and there rules and I really think there a perfect army for me! Next time I get the chance I'll be getting the battleforce.

I've recently got back into the game and I was playing with my friends Tyranids and started to enjoy them a bit, but then sat down and really thought about what I wanted in my army. and I told my friend that I love when my plan comes together and when every piece has an exact job to do, he replied with "you would get along with Eldar very well". I've been doing a little research and there were never really that many Eldar players and I feel as though the reason a lot of people don't play them is the reason I want to play them.

The Eldar take well constructed plans and tactics to do well(not saying the other armies don't) but there are a lot of players who would rather have an army whose units all have the same responsibilities, but for me, why do I need Infantry who do the same job as vehicles. Does anyone else feel the same?
