is it just me, or does a 5 man command squad with all grav rifles feel like it could be incredibly broken?

puts out as much fire power as the centurions on a faster platform, but can't re-roll wounds.

Put me down for supporting the side of you keep the Boltguns that are bolted to the bike and just grab a special weapon to go with it.
I figure that versatility is why people pay so many points for a bike.
It's not like he has to aim his boltguns, he just pulls the trigger on the bike handle. So I figure he can have both. Just like it's always been.
Unless the Special Weapon becomes twin-linked, then I say rip those suckers off and glue on twin-linked meltas!!!

I don't know if I'd say as much as the Centurions.....9 shots without re-rolls on wounds compared to 15 with re-rolls is quite a big difference IMO - they do have a better delivery platform though.

Whoops pardon me. I ment to say a Biker Grav command squad would be as powerful as centurions with grav cannons. 3*5 is 15 after all

Also, you can attach a PFG biker libby with prescience to it to make it hit TL and protect it more.

Command Squad vs Centurions... tough call, I think it's down to personal preference. The bikes might win out simply due to not taking a FOC slot.

Oh goodness, five veterans, bikes, five grav-guns is only 195 points. For something that will basically remove a monstrous creature a turn, that's pretty cheap and they're very mobile. You can still tool them up for combat if you want to.

195? That's wrong.
Command Squad
+Bikes
+5x Grav-gun
+Apothecary
225 points for 5 models that can shoot anything down, clear them in assault when they 'fail' and have T5, 5++ and FnP

Shooty Centurions don't even stand a chance.

And you can pick Melee weapons too!
And cheap Storm Shields! Although you already have a 4+ with White Scars.
White Scars would be even better:
-Autopass DT-test.
-4+ Jink
-S5 HoW
-Hit and Run

Put in the Standard of the Emperor Ascendant if you absolutely have to troll the enemy as hard as you can.

Just MCs? You're throwing out enough grav shots to potentially gut pretty much any vehicle, annihilate most "wing" squads, and rip apart anything with a 4+ or better.

I don't think the Apothecary can have a special gun, since he's not a Veteran. Names matter!

So on the bike section, if you look at Wargear listed under the unit entry (the part with the fluff) it says bolt pistol, which I think you can swap for special weapons.

For those coming in late: the bikes & special weapons thing has already been FAQed by GW. Move on.

His wargear isn't replaced, so you can take a Grav-gun and then upgrade him.
Right?

I'm not sure it's a good idea to have the same discussion over 3 different threads, but no. An Apothecary is not a Veteran. Only Veterans can take specials.

No, because he's no longer a Veteran.

Just like a Ork Painboy can't take Nob upgrades.

Just like a Company Champion can't take any Veteran upgrades.

A Captain on bike (so bike troops), a Librarian on bike, and two grav-Command Squads on bikes. For around 600 points that's a totally evil combination.

With the reduction to FnP I'm not sure it's worth paying for anyway.

A Nob becomes a Painboy and painboyz have their own profile and wargear.
It's badly written but implies that he replaces all stats/wargear.

"Just like a Company Champion can't take any Veteran upgrades."
Why not? It says that you replace the Chainsword with a Power Weapon and Shield, nothing stops me from upgrading that Pistol to something before making him a Champion.

This should belong in YMDC btw.
