Update #27

Chibi status update and survey for what comes next

Wanted to give everyone a status update on this KickStarter.

I approved the samples from the last of the figures from this KickStarter last night and so all the project moulds are now approved to use for making production spins. This means we appear to be on schedule for shipping in March for this KickStarter. So hopefully that appears we are way ahead of schedule for this KickStarter. We aim to try and make sure it stays that way. So with looking like this project should be wrapped up in March we wanted to get feedback on where Impact! goes next.

As backers, you probably know from our frequent updates that we are fairly transparent in our process. The steps we utilize in completing a project of this kind can be summarized as concept generation, concept art, sculpting, moulding, casting, packaging and shipping. You also know that there are different people involved in the various stages. As such, we can be working on multiple projects at the same time as we are utilizing different talents and resources. So, while we’re in the final stages for Asian Adventurers, it means that those involved in first part have been free to work on the next project without impeding any of the progress towards fulfillment of Asian.

With all that said, Chris has been busy working with Lorraine (art) and the sculptors to bring the next Chibi project to life. While the overall theme was sci-fi, it broke into horror and space subgroups. Not surprisingly, ended up with two different miniature sets. Chris is a fan of HP Lovecraft’s work, and the whole Cthulhu Mythos. That’s one of the reasons that so many Mythos creatures made it into the Chibi Dungeon Adventurers Kickstarter (Cthulhu, Avatar of Yog-Sothoth, Avatar of Shub-Niggurath, Deep One). Those were the inspiration for the Gaslight Horror minis and they’re probably 80% of what we planned. The Type 1 figures are broken into heroes and monsters (see pictures for examples). The Type 2 figures are reserved for the Great Old Ones.

Finally, we created a small sub-set of space themed figures. There are really four base figures, and two that have alternate heads (helmeted, human). The Type 2 figures will be the same space mech body with 3 different weapon arm packs (short, long and energy). The mechs can also hold a Chibi driver from the Type 1 figures. The Space Chibi are similar in that they’ll maintain the same general sizing as our Asian figures (30mm Type 1, 50mm Type 2). We have additional art for more space figures as well. In an effort to make sure we structure the Kickstarter campaign in a way that creates the most interest and value for the backers, we are asking you to complete a very quick survey. This will allow us to rank which figure types (size/theme) are the most interest to the community. This will affect the starting figures, their numbers, and stretch goals so please vote (or Cthulhu will rise from the depths).

Rank 1 for the set you most want most and 5 for the set you would like to see least. The survey is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3RP23CZ

Here are samples of art from Lorraine to show you the theme for each set in the survey. The images were scaled to show true size comparisons for what the figures should look like.

Thank you for looking over this and considering it and giving us your feedback with the survey.

I'll just leave these here as it's a bit early for a new thread. These have all appeared on Twitter recently.

The gaslight type 1 stuff is back to physical sculpts ANdrew has really got the hang of it now. The Sci-Fi is digital.

and the Ithaqua artwork

None that I've seen Joyboozer.

here's the Copper again from twitter

Not sure how Aracdia Quest or SDE Forgotten King will affect the launch of this campaign whether it would help or hinder it if they overlap but Chris has been made aware of it.

Got to see the Gug sculpt (4 armed guy with the teeth zip head) and mad scientist lovely pieces, Andrew has really got the hang of the chibi style now a lot of the sculpts this time are physical sculpts. Sorry can't post anything that isn't already in the public domain I'm sure it will turn up soon on twitter.

Update shipping starts tomorrow 2 or 3 months ahead of schedule!

Project Update #28: Address Survey out to everyone and Let me introduce you to my 3 little friends
Posted by Impact! Miniatures ♥ Like

I just sent out the address surveys to everyone. Now I've been told that a miniatures KickStarter shipping 2 months early might break the fabric of reality ... but we are going to risk it. I should be able to ship rewards starting tomorrow. From there ... give me 2 to 3 weeks to get them all out the door. So in theory by the end of March everyone should have their reward in the mail to them.

I'm very pleased with the casts that I've seen. I think our relationship with Trollforged has come a long way and I'm looking forward to getting these figures into the backer hands.

That said ... this was asked of us several times with our previous Chibi KickStarter so I wanted to post in an update. These figures are not mass produced with a steel injection molds in China. They are spin cast in rubber molds in the USA so its a different method of production. The figures are high quality but several of them might need some light clean up and assembly to get ready to game with. ...

More previews:

Shoggoth

Gug - really like this one Chris is going to try and get the arms done ball and socket for more posability

Elder Thing - digital paint over physical Sculpt

Chaugnar Faugn

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rmkzda9v8w9zv73/chaugnar_wip2_.avi

That's most of the minis - there are still 5 others to be revealled yet, the Hastur is type 2 so digital sculpt, the Flapper and Hound are type 1 physical sculpts and 2 others for stretch goals - to be revealed later.

Current plan is to start a funding goal of $8k:
Archaeologist, Flapper, Gangster, Shoggoth, Hound of Tindalos, Elder Thing, Gug, Chaugnar Faugn
with the rest being added as stretch goals.

Still no word on a go live date I'll move these to a new thread in N&R closer to the time.
