Thanks for the replies guys. And again you'll have to forgive my ignorance, I am a US citizen my dad was an expat and so I never lived in the States, and thus don't know much about US military culture other than what my cousin has told me (he's just joined Marines, aiming to be a fighter pilot.)

I was just asking because I am considering the possibility of joining the armed forces (not just the Marines) in the dearth of job options. But it seems from the advice given here it's better to finish off a college degree first. Thus far for financial reasons and other depression related issues I haven't finished it and am instead working.

You should PM Seaward. I'm pretty sure he's a crew chief in the Air Force, and he seems to like it as I recall.
