I think it's more what he didn't say, as mikhaila's a class act. Get him after a few beers and you'll get the uncensored version
Regarding warhammer to KoW- the gamers at my FLGS haven't made that transition, either. One guy had gotten the rules and was demo'ing it... but it just didn't catch on. Gamers are actually a loyal bunch, and I think are just hoping GW will fix their own ruleset with 9th edition...
Rather than a wholesale changeover, our store has experienced a lot of what it sounds like mikhaila's has- lots of smaller scale games getting picked up and tried out- Infinity, Dropzone Commander, and of course X-wing
There will always be a place for mass battles games, though... 40k is still getting a lot of play, and I'm hoping fantasy rises from the ashes with 9th edition!

Tides, you should come to the Dark Side. Your chaos dwarf army is totally acceptable in KoW...and those Golems I got you will make for a pretty unit on the battlefield...

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I don't mind using it for both if it catches on . But I do plan to base each model individually, so that they can be used for fantasy if it becomes worth playing again!

I was about to mention the same thing but then I remembered GW has no (good) official tournament, and their stores are killing off gaming space, so really they are creating aftermarket models.
Lets all be real for a second, you can literally use anything to represent models. GW is hemorrhaging customers and milking the remaining ones dry.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

If I remember correctly, Mike posted a few years back about being a guest at GW in Nottingham and talked of the grand tour he got. If it was him it's sad the company has done such a reversal to make him that angry because he loved the visit according to the posts he made.
Then again, I could be mixing him up with someone else, since it was quite a while back.

This makes sense, well, other than that they price combo boxes at the rarer of the categories.
Consider that it costs them as much in fixed costs to create a common unit or a rare unit. Fixed costs = tooling for molds, paying the sculptor, etc.
In order to recoup those fixed costs, they base it on how many they expect to sell. And, obviously, they expect to sell more of a troop choice than another slot. That means they need a higher margin on the elite unit if they want to recoup the fixed costs in the same amount of time.
But if the combo box is priced at the higher rate, that seems to imply just a money grab, rather than following this pricing logic. They should figure to sell as many as the troop/core option.

Naw, even simpler. GW's pricing structure for the last 10 years-20 years has been the same : All that they think the market will bear. Simple as that. Confirmed over beers with many an ex- GW Vice President or Financial Officer.
The difference is, that in the past, they had a better idea of what their limits were, what the ramifications of raising the price were, and they actually used some of those profits to make the company better. Now, I have no clue at all. Most moves make no sense long term, so I have to assume Kirby wants short term gains so he can retire and dump stock when it's high, or dump the company to someone else entirely. Most of my sources are gone now, so it's just guesswork. The old guard has retired or been pushed out (and running other companies like BattleFront, Warlord, Mantic, etc). The new guys don't talk, and anyone in the US is just fed BS from the UK and doesn't even get information on what the company is doing.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Not being able to have beers with GW anymore seems a bit akin to our political parties no longer being able to go out and share a beer... not to get political
