How long have you been paying for Healthcare? I was in Ab up until ... 2008( I think...?) and I would receive an invoice (which, being totally irresponsible, I never paid), maybe things changed since then?
Like a monthly bill? Can't be per use. Surprised old moneybags Alberta has that. They don't even have sales tax.
Nah, it wasn't per use, just... you know, an invoice instead of payment per taxation. It wasn't that much, something like 55$ ? Alberta had some weird rules. It's the only place where I had to pay for a clinic consultation, because everywhere else accepts out of province coverage for the first few months, except Alberta, which doesn't accept Quebec coverage, but all others.
And yes, it's even weirder considering how fething rich the province is.

That sounds like BC. Count yourself unlucky that your employer didn't cover that. I bet most Albertans don't know what you're talking about because there's is covered.

been here almost 30 years....
maybe you are confusing alberta blue cross premiums with it?
to k-obama above:
LOL... if we start taking quebec insurance because we are "rich"... then can we stop sending you so much of our "riches" via "equalization" payments to the corrupt-mafia run quebec government?
AB also has a higher flat income tax/cost of living ect if it makes you feel better.
Back OT though,
SOMEONE has to decide when its pouring good $ after bad $ regarding intensive care...
its a hard choice to make, but someone has to make sure that $ and equiptment goes to someone who will actually recover instead of being used up by people that will not.

Hum. No. See, canadians travelling outside of their home province are covered (usually for up to 3 months) in other provinces. So if I have to go to a clinic, they won't ask that I pay up simply because I'm not paying in that province, instead they'll go get that money from the provincial governement to which I did pay my taxes.
Except in Alberta, for Quebecers. Every other province, including all those other provinces that receive equalization pay get that 3 months window. But not us.
Also, mafia-run? You are mixing up Montreal's administration with the provincial administration, I think. Or, possibly, talking out of your ass.

It is the same in Ontario they do not accept Quebec Health Cards my fiancee when she first moved to Ontario had to pay for a doctors appointment until she got her OHIP card, she even tried to get Quebec Health to pay but they wouldn't because she was living in Ontario. From what she told me about Quebec is that they do not accept any outside Provence health card that you have to pay than send a claim to your Provence's ministry of health to be reimbursed for the cost.
She told me that back in 2010 so it could of changed

haha, just a friendly jab at you cheese curd eating ottawa touching separation wanting celine dion encouraging surrender monkies.
from an enviroment killing entitled elitist too-dumb to be rich, too rich to be ignored, redneck albertan of course
it has been proven at the civic level to have a mafia problem in montreal, and that it has a provincial problem of the same is quite likely to "reads between the lines" types.
But it is as you say, its only been absolutely proven to have a municipal mafia problem, not a provincial one.
OFC, it hasnt been proven that the provence doesnt have a mafia problem either... but thats another thread id expect!
on topic, im pretty sure NO ONE honours quebecs health cards except quebec... all the newfies I know here didnt have that issue, but they also might have changed their address and gotten their ablerta health care info in line "before they moved" or in tandem with it.

Ah! That would make sense. Honestly, having dealt with the RRMQ, I can understand then. It did piss me off since I was moving in Ab for a while, and from the New Year so I wouldn't make another declaration in Quebec that year, and thus lost that money.
80$ for a next morning pill was pretty hefty.

You know, when I read this my first thought was actually "huh, imagine you're working on that panel, how do you feel at the end of the day?"
I figure the answers are largely either "kinda bad since I'm the person responsible for a very unpopular decision", "Great, I'm saving Canada money", or "hahahaha...I get to decide who lives and who dies!"
Yes, those are listed in my personal order of preference from best to worst.

I cant even think of a state that compares to quebec... even the "french" states like lousianna dont try to secede from the union or impose language laws ect

Quebec is most like California I guess. Distinctly unique, attracts more attention from the rest of the country than it really deserves, generally hated on by the rest of us, but everyone goes there to have a really good time. Even the song "California girls" could be seamlessly switched to "French-Canadian girls" without being duplicitous.

Great, now Quebec has to pass a bunch of laws to make themselves more different than California. Hope you're happy.
