Skinwalkers are ARM 16, they are a world apart from ARM 21, you are comparing apples with oranges (not to mention comparing units from two difference factions which is in and of itself a pretty useless thing).

I would contest the allegation that they're non-analogous.

Firstly, they're both heavy infantry. They're similarly armed, similarly STAT'd (with the Skinwalkers being Faster and having better Def), and both are Fearless and have CMA. In that respect, they're very similar.

You argue that Skinwalkers are only ARM16, hence totally different from the ARM21 of the MoW:ST. While I agree that ARM21 is a great leap above ARM16, that situation occurs only when the MoW receive a Shield Wall order, which clearly impedes their speed on the tabletop. Outside of that, they're ARM17/16. Not exactly worlds apart. Not to mention that Skinwalkers get an ARM boost while engaged. This isn't quite the same bonus as Shield Wall, but at the same time, it's not contingent on having front arc and being in B2B with friendly models. They serve similar (but necessarily identical) roles in their respective armies.

I'm not exactly sure how you think they're not comparable?

They aren't comparable because they fulfil very different roles within their respective factions and because the factions themselves have extremely disparate play styles that make any such comparisons moot to begin with.

Arguing that they are comparable because they are both heavy infantry is ignoring the tactical role that the units are supposed to play. And you just have to look at the way that PP has decided to buff each of those units to realise this. I.e. The Alpha has buffed the Skinwalkers damage output to almost double of what they do without him, the Kovnik boosted the MoWs mobility without sacrificing their protection by allowing them to maintain Shield Wall and still have a decent MOV.

Put the Skinwalkers in front of your army to absorb an alpha strike and watch them dissolve in a single turn.
Try to do any significant damage with the MoW and you'll be severely disappointed (and they'll probably die to a man next turn because you didn't give them shield wall ).

But I'm old and will always love metal models over plastic.

Agreed. The weight of the model means a lot to me. I would almost rather spend more on the metal than have to clean up some of those mold lines (i'm looking at YOU: Winterguard Rifle Corps), but man are the plastic kits awesome for magnetizing.

I've heard GW plastics blow PP out of the water.
