I think you mean publicly, they knew all this was coming long before they wrote it up. They would not sit down go lets go over the figures ok lets try this!

They planned this for a while and yes the postion was already filled but legally you need to let others apply even tho everyone knows they have no chance in hell. That's why everyone can APPLY to management but everyone knows who is going to get it.

They are cutting the fat and it is not all doom and gloom. They may have expanded to much and are restructuring to save money get rid of the 1 guy who keeps track and his 5 friends who say yes for 1 guy who knows how to do the job. Unless you have all the information rather then the number break down we do not really know whats going on. We get what they give us not their plans or anything else.

Don't forget of course they knew they would lose money they cut of all shops that sold out of U.K. but them and told all stores out side of U.K. no more. Then they cut off bit shops they knew this was coming that's why they said they planned for this loss.

We are talking about the company, that doesn't tell its sales staff what next weeks new products are.
So no, Nottingham higher management didn't tell them in advance.

cause the staff can't shut up lol. I have never seen a new release that was not on the net a month ahead.

THQ Asia Pacific in Melbourne listed want ads for new staff the fortnight before, and up to the day that they were closed by the US headquarters.

HQ of anywhere generally doesn't tell the satellite offices anything about layoffs and office closures until they're happening. Hell, I hear that in the US employees of a lot of software and gaming companies don't find out there's a chance of them being let go until IT has remotely locked their terminal and their supervisor is there with a cardboard box and a security guard.

An update on this for anyone who cares (does it count as necromancy if there's current news?) was walking down Ostrasse to where the big GW centre used to be, it's totally closed, sign taken down and up for rent. So looks like they completely closed the awesome hobby centre here. Shame. More business for the independents around I suppose.

I can somehow reinforce that rumor. The German HQ (Drakenburg) has become increasingly empty and scarce in the last few weeks. Seeing this rumor pop up now saddens me. I personally knew one of the guys working there and most of them were awesome people.

Well, I figure it didn't need to be locked, since it's new information on this topic. But lock away if ye feel it's justified. Felt like putting a new thread up on it was a worse choice.

@Da Boss, fair enough, but really I think everyone had already kind of taken it as 'true' at this point, all things considered. I am going to lock it up as it is likely to only get 'boo GW sucks poor germans' comments, which has been well covered.

Besides, people should not divert their energies from going bat-gak insane about 7th and creating a massive spike in moderation, that is the more important place to get worked up on either side lol!
