Riptides assaulting WS puts them in catapult range. I don't think that's a good idea for Tau. I think Eldar basically have their number at every turn.

To be more accurate, Vypers are too expensive when you can gain the same utility and then some elsewhere. Its mobility isn't a totally wasted asset, but It just doesn't DO more. Its kinda like the discussion on Falcons vs. say a Crimson Hunter or a Wave Serpent. Falcons are attractive for a lot of reasons (to me) but ultimately i CAN get their utility from more overall useful units.

Are Vypers bad? Thinking either going all Wraith (except Spiritseer) or a balanced list with Guardians and some Aspects as I had the idea to paint them with their armor in the Craftworld colors and the helmet in the Aspect colors to tie them in but still make them stand out.

So Fire Dragons and Warp Spiders are good, Banshees and maybe Shining Spears bad, Scorpions good? Never been a fan of Dark Reapers and while I like Dire Avengers they are priced absolutely ridiculous.

On other notes what about the following units:

Guardian Jetbikes (Wind riders or something now?)
War Walkers
Fire Prism/Nightspinner
Falcon
Guardian heavy weapons (Engine of Vaul?)

Warp Spiders Are Ridicugood. UBER fast, UBER strong guns, Mini-rending and og...a 3 shot awesomesauce shooter for the exarch? mmmm....

Wind Ryders are a must for objective stealing. two units of 3 as standard in almost every list, just for speed.

Warwalkers. Was there ever a unit more suited to paving the way for Aerial invasion? 12 STR 6 AP 2 shots that MULCH the anti-air capability of the enemy. GREAT unit for that. Just reserve them, have an autarch, mulch, and then bring on the planes!

Banshees are horribad in comparison to any other unit in the codex. they boned that one.

Striking Scorpions are Awesome. REALLY aweasome. An Iniitative 6 Power claw is instawin in a lot of challenges and any unit with 4 attacks on the charge can only be classified as good, ESPECIALLY when they come with a damn rending pistol! Whuuuuu.

Dark Reapers are Relentless. yeah. InoRight? if they weren't good in peoples minds before they should be now.

Dire Avengers aren't APPRECIABLY better at what you ASK them to do than Guardians so i default to Guardians. I know there are differences, but not that many that I care enough about in actual practice. 5+ invul makes them a great bodyguard unit though so in that capacity I can see fielding them. they make a very good bodyguard in Plasma infested waters.

Vauls Wrath batteries with D-Cannons are my fav. i have them in my forces. They can end mephiston in a poof of vapor. Whats not to like? Artillery in general is bad ass in 6E.

Reapers are slow and purposeful...not relentless...I believe

slow and purposeful allows them to fire on the move.

Indeed...this is why mine are always in reserve.

Just noting the difference as it can definitely impact a game's outcome.

You've got Wraithguard and Wraithblades in Troops with a Spiritseer in charge, you can still run a gigantic Jetseer Council, you've got Guardians in Wave Serpents, you've got Guardian artillery, and you've got Jetbikes. Eldar can work just fine with no Aspect Warriors at all.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

well the question was, could a list be competitive without Aspect warriors. I'd say yes.

But Aspect Warriors are boss and so it is a more challenging play to go without them. But with the imporved BS, I amsolutely would remind people that an all Guardian (meaning Guardians and Guardian pilots) type army is viable and then some.

The Eldar Codex seems like the most complete codex in the game right now. You could probably put all the units' names on a dart board, throw a bunch of darts, and get a competitive army. It lets the Tau Codex take all the hate and just quietly taps its fingers muttering, "Exxxxcellent."
