In a way, this is CSM's terminator list... sort of. Scoring units with a bunch of extra abilities and a ++. The only thing they're missing is deepstrike.

Bringing in Huron gives them a bit more close range punch.

Also, I'm forever referring to this codex as Codex Word Bearers. Crimson Whats? never existed.

Word Bearers would hav VotLW, Daemonic Possession on everything standard and a wide range of Daemon Weapon Relics.

Am I spoiling the illusion enough? I mean I like the Word Bearers too, but these guys are no Word Bearers, but that's okay because this is the first army I've seen in 40k who is haunted, and then the very act of fighting basically weaponizes the things that haunt them.

I kind of wish they'd get Shrouded from it for the army as described in their little excursion to rob the DA of it's geneseed though.

I actually do like the fluff for these guys now, I can get behind the whole spirits thing cause its actually pretty cool. I was as a CSM player a bit miffed not to see an actual legion, but I can support these guys now.

I can agree the Legion thing would have been a more obvious thing too, but I think this gives us a pretty decent look into a proper unaligned Renegade warband instead of an unaligned Legion. I doubt they'll be doing one of each in the future, but then again I don't think we'll have "must take VotLW" on everything in the future like BL did either.

In other news I seem to have lost my pin vice to Chaos. This makes me sad.

I still can't bring myself to support it. This is time spent that could have been used doing something we want more, like legions, maybe something Necron, print version of SOB codex, literally anything else expect maybe a Vespid book.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

That's assuming this book wasn't mostly done in someone's free time, or actively took resources away from other projects.

And I don't want a print copy of this Sisters codex. I want a print copy of a real codex with proper model support.

Oh, you still have hope for that. I wish I did.

I'm very stubborn. That's why I played Sisters for so long (2009-2014 and only recently started a new army as a new project).

I still maintain it'll happen. Just like the heat death of the universe: eventually.

Necrons already have a forgeworld list, and the apoc dataslate.

They've been getting some love regardless of things.

I hope to a deity that we don't, VOTLW tax was so bad in black legion that I still hope they retcon VOTLW in a supplement to both free, and able to take things based on it, at least I hope that rumor was true.

I still think Possessed need a good hard look in the next codex to make them worthwhile. They don't do anything that's not better served by taking cheaper units. Berzerkers are going to do more in melee against the types of things you're going to ram them into because higher weapon skill means a lot more than higher strength.

I like the mini-daemon prince idea. I actually modeled the one that's the champion for my squad to look like a smaller version of my actual daemon prince already because of that. I think the way to go is make them significantly cheaper but with forced upgrade to "daemon of X" for whatever they deam proper for the points per upgrade there. They wouldn't get marks, but would instead get Shrouded/Furious Charge/Rending/Reroll saves of 1, depending. It'd make them different enough from the other myriad of assault options in the codex to take a look at.

But you can take a nurgle biker for the same points cost as an unmarked Possessed. Khorne Raptors with an icon come out significantly cheaper and basically feel the same way in practice, except are jump troops. You guys already know the picture, I suppose I'm preaching to the choir.

I haven't looked at the physical codex yet but I am pretty sold on getting a copy based on what I have heard online.

The relics sound fun to use and the changes to possessed make them a bit more of a viable option.

Plus running a horde of mutated marines with cultist and daemon engine support (plus other daemon units like obliterators) sounds like a blast!
