I confess, I've been using an unbound list to field an Imperial armored company with a squadron of misappropriated Hammerheads alongside a Recongregator Ordo Xenos Inquisitor who is supervising the operation and is going to greenlight a Magos Xenologis to reverse-engineer some portions of the Hammerheads for Imperial use, if all goes well.

Also, the whole endeavor is heresy if we get caught...

Sure, I could make some serious broken unbound list. Will I? No! I could go one ebay buy a bunch of stuff and become a WAAC TFG. Sure, will I? No! I have no desire to play a game of unbound EVER, with one or against one.

Do I want to play a game of apocaclypse? Sure as long as I can play my Titans, thats the name of the game really right anyone can play thier Superheavies or Titians. Technically isn't Apocaplypse a form of unbound? sure I guess, so but most people take formations which to me count as bound. Either way its my only exception.

Do I want to play my regular 40K armies battle forged lists (no titans, no superheavies,) against your: unbound, titans, or superheavies? NO.

You want to play a game against your battle forged list? Yes, lets have fun.

People like me and including me may B**ch up a storm, but lets be serious, there is no right or wrong its part of the rules now. I just refuse to participate it that portion of the game, Tournament or pick-up game.

I can't find the quote by another dakkanaut: 'If I wanted to forge a narritive I'd write a book or play a RPG'..whoever you are that was a great statement.

I have nothing against unbound. It's just another army format. Battle-forged is the way to go if you want a balanced army and don't mind having to take troop choices. So if you like running ork boyz, regular marines, IG blobs and the like, you'll most likely prefer battle-forged because you're not losing anything by using a FOC.

Unbound is attractive to me because you can make crazy lists. Imagine an army made up of a stompa and 4 gorkanauts! Would it work? I don't know, but I wouldn't even care. It looks great on the table and it's not really something I could field otherwise.

I really feel some competetive players gave unbound a bad name. We barely got to know what it was and suddenly they were terrorizing people with netlists made up of nothing but riptides and such. Sure, you could make an ultra-cheesy army with unbound, but the truth is that the cheesiest units in the game don't always get better the more you have. Riptides need the rest of the tau army to function properly and wave serpents are really strong because they have other eldar units in them or supporting them.

I'll probably end up running a few unbound lists myself. They're just gonna be crazy concepts like assault centurions only armies and the like. I feel that is what unbound was made for. Besides, if you want to be truly competetive, you want to have objective secured troops anyway!
