GW is trying to milk the release schedule. Forcing you to buy the model rules in WD and adding in models piecemeal for the codex without seeing the big picture really sells a disjointed message about how they are trying to make as much money as possible.

These are human emotions and responses, that are no doubt likely shared even throughout the casual community. Sounds like a pretty big botch job by GW.

Gotta say I love it. They are trying everything they can to keep the money coming in, and it's all just making it worse.

The sooner they are done the better. Shame that we are all going to have to suffer through it in the meantime.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

After talking with my local GW manager about the new release schedule, he gave a preaty good explanation. Weekly relase have started for two reasons. The first one, massive monthly release created a problem of attendance in GW store with lots of people comming in the first few days after the relaese, causing problems of overcrowding and the opposite problem later. The second reason, the creation of Warhammer Vision and the transformation of White Dwarf in a weekly magasine.

Neither of those things will get GW any sort of pass from me. Releasing models before the rules is stupid and more of GW pushing that 'the rules aren't important, just collect the models and forge a narrative' stuff on players who don't all want that.

GW chose to cut their stores in half and only staff them with one man. GW chose to turn WD into a weekly pamphlet (not like it was much good before that but it was great once!)
I chose to hold this dumb release schedule against GW, simple as that.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

God, if only there existed some sort of thing where a company could gather...information from its customers. Some sort of observation-based tool, where you learn...things like likes and...dislikes, and what people may or may not want to buy. And then you could take all this information and put it together, and make informed decisions...ahh, I had this idea in my head and just lost it.

Perhaps one day some brilliant fellow will come up with a way to improve business like this.

I guess they could have saved a lot of frustration by leaking all kinds of stuff from the codex along with the models (like explaining that all orks get 'ere we go). They did that for 7th, and it went quite well IMO.

Actually telling us about when the codex is coming from the start would also have gone a long way. People rightfully started to question whether we would be getting a codex at all, or if this would be another update akin to the ork bommers.

They didn't do a whole lot wrong, but they could have done a lot better.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

My thoughts exactly.

This wont even prevent the "release rush" because theres a TON of people that will not buy, or if they do buy, will not play the new models until the codex comes out because theres a lot of unanswered questions about them interacting with the old unit rules. Once that codex comes out people are still going to rush the crap out of the stores.

At this point im starting to wonder if we are even getting a codex. I am going to be so pissed if they release 1-3 more WD with ork rules and then move on to BA or whoever is next, leaving the ork codex behind assuming the WD supplements were enough. Considering GW doesnt pay attention to their fans, i can believe they'd think it was a good idea and not see the massive hate it enraged upon them.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.
