The store owner at my FLGS had a conversation about that with me actually. I thought the helmets looked a little funny and was never able to get into the elf armies. But the owner told that out of all the helmets the elves were more practical because if someone was trying to cut down on their heads the shape of their helmets would better protect them then the helmets the WoC use.

ya but then it would just roll down there helmet into their nice flat shoulder or neck...

I'm sure there are some sort of protection to prevent that type of thing.
