I...simply cannot agree with this. This mentality is not only monstrous but outright abhorrent to me. I'm not entirely sure how to respond. Given that such can potentially happen to anyone, I'd think it'd be nothing other than prudent self-interest.

I'm not against killing those who truly deserve to die, I firmly believe such people exist and that making them no longer exist is a big plus. But I'd rather they live than people who don't deserve death be executed.

Unless you can prove that our current method has a huge number of false convictions then there is no good reason to suspend the Death Penalty.

I'd say the fact that we have exonerations every year, after people have been serving years or decades on Death Row, is more than sufficient.

After quite some research I posted in one of the old threads that the percentage of murderers that killed again after being released was lower than the percentage of people that were wrongfully executed.

If someone can't show Empathy, why do they deserve better?

I remember that! And we already had the link about the death penalty not actually reducing the crime rate. All bases seem to be covered.

The judge's reasoning in this instance seems pretty good, too.

When you speak about people "deserving" to die, I think that is about the point you should no longer be contributing to the debate...

Obviously if we really want to make a dent in the crime rates, we should execute the perpetrators and their puppies. That'll show people to think about not doing things we don't approve of in the heat of the moment when they're not thinking about what they're doing

Kill the families, they clearly only breed criminals. The kittens and puppies families too.

Spending 30+ years in a 4' x 8' cell with no privacy and a guy who considers you to be nothing more than a recepticle for his bodily fluids is hardly "getting away" with anything.

yeah i have to admit i was too harsh... but the greyhound decapitator (that sick guy from my last post) and these guys ARE NOT SAME CASE. What the decapitator did was in front of a FULL BUS! Sentence of 40 years, he was set FREE (not because of him being sick, but because of LACK OF GODDAMN EVIDENCE.
