This whole financial report and the defense of it just makes me think of this

You know that isn't Hitler, right?

Please tell me you know that isn't Hitler.

Yes, not strictly Godwinning, but my faith in the youth of this country is at least partially restored!

I'm 23. And I'm actually quite interested in history.

And he's 13 years older than you, thus you're a "youth" to him.

And a "youth" to me is somone < 18.

Its like a vicious never ending circle of ageism.

I could be, biologically at least, your daddy, therefore you are a youth because you're on the cusp of being a separate generation from me. You vs an 18 year old? Not so much.

All of you get off my lawn!

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

Sorry - in the grim dorkiness of the future, there is only war....

Not true as it does not compare anyone to Hitler, but thanks for playing. It is the "Peace in our Time" speech which was proven wrong shortly later as I believe Kirby's pre-ramble will be as will. Blind optimism is the point, not someone or something is as evil as Hitler.

GW has been down this road for years and has created highly insulated corporate culture within. They've been shedding customers for years now and the price increases can't keep them afloat in revenue anymore. People want to believe that GW can change, fine. I don't believe it myself. They have a distinct history of repetition and they have backed themselves into a spot where they are going to start running out of options other than stay on course. They should have stopped the price increases before it got so drastic as to drive people away. If they dropped prices now, all they will do is cut their already falling revenue likely hastening their demise. They could advertise, but it wouldn't draw many more people in with their prices being so high and likely not enough to cover the costs of the ads. Furthermore, they are highly against modern media, they fear it and fail to utilize it properly. They can't cut costs without closing their stores, which would save millions, but destroy their sales. I see no where else for them to go but down.

So... wandering off-track a little here. Although it seems that the discussion going on here could as easily fit into the Annual Report thread, so I think we'll lock this one down and stick with that thread for further 'state of GW' discussion for now...
