you still get to play borg, they still have the best ships in game, losing out on a few upgrades means nothing when you can min max the borg with just the sphere and a tactical drone....

the new rules also tone down feds, heaven forbid klingon/dom/rom/ect have a chance.

Easysauce, plague has been tantruming in every single thread on the staw board since these rules came out, because he got sick of losing to borg, splashed some cash on borg and then the borg got toned down.

His whinging is infantile and petulant. Here's what he wrote a little while back...

I never got to use my Borg fleet in an OP, and now they're limited to one good build...which I didn't even want to use...

And BTW, The USS Stargazer is not a retail release, his misfortune isn't in the fact that the tournament format changed ENTIRELY, his misfortune lies in the fact that the card was errata'd to be unique... It's not like he still can't sell/trade those extra stargazers away, Tac stations is still a good card and it's a card people want... I don't feel bad in the slightest for him for dumping all that money into Stargazer prize ships on ebay/somewhere shady at once just to have a horde of them... However, I spent WEEKS obtaining ship after ship in the hopes of playing a Borg Tactical Cube with Ablative Hull Armors and the Borg Queen taking it to the cheese that is my local meta...
Last ship I obtained was the Scout Cube, literally, a week before the format change... All my work, ruined... It's a totally different situation entirely with the stargazers... at least he can use them/sell them/trade them for things he can use. Now that Borg are 90% useless for OP play other than the ONE build... I'm stuck with useless ships... Maybe now you understand why I'm a little angry?

1. You were not a borg player to begin with.

2. You were frustrated at the borg beating the snot out of everyone else including you.

3. You decided to demonstrate to your local meta how broken it was by buying and building a broken borg loadout to smash the joy out of everyone else and get them banned.

4. You were preempted in this by Wizzkids who introduced a slapdown to the borg.

5. You are complaining why?

6. I play 40k, I've put entire builds, entire fething armies on the shelf, costing thousands of dollars and weeks of painting, and you're grumbling about a handful of prepainted cheap ships? Man the feth up and change up your builds, that's how companies sell minis. It has been ever thus. Welcome to the free market economy, there will be a new meta. You sound like all those whiny bitch grey knight players who suddenly found themselves without an autowin army recently whilst my orks got the hose yet again, either you enjoy gaming or you don't, trade in your borg someplace and get whatever is the new black.


Adapt or leave. Quit crying about it, Wizzkids don't care and the rest of us don't care, ALL these games shift the meta regularly, it's what keeps the sales moving, no doubt Wizzkids got bored of having nothing else sell but borg and decided to try a way to increase sales across the range. Borg still retain great movement and very solid ships.

I have to 2nd what Meangreenstompa said. I am not demanding money back from GW because I can't use my Slayer army, Kislevs, or Dogs of War in tournaments any more. I can still use parts of them in other armies from time to time or just use them casually. It is the nature of war gaming, things change. It is always better to roll with it than eat yourself up over it. Look at the new OP rules as a challenge rather than a stumbling block.

I personally play in a lot of OPs and I hardly ever use the same build over again. It is fun to see what works and what doesn't. If you though that spending $100 on borg ships was going to allow you to use a super build over and over again then that is a mistake on you. With the release schedule the way it is things are constantly shifting. Just be glad you can still use borg because the TO could have banned them out right, which many across the country have done.

As I sort of suggested from my COP-3 post a few threads down.

I find the new tournament rules actually quite exciting. I could quite easy complain about not being able to use my Mega Voyager build now, or make a super USS Enterprise-E.

However, instead, I'm finding it really interesting to work out what fits best in the points. - For example, having the discussion on whether Quantum Torpedoes fit more than Dorsal Phaser Arrays because, quite simply. I can't have both, I need to pick one or the other. And having to make real decisions in a game is awesome and exciting.


If all goes well, I might actually start ENJOYING the game again. Not just putting up with it because it's what people play at the club.
