Somewhere in south-central England.

I think the campaign sets are a good idea.

The mini-rulebook is a good idea if done well (the paperback rulebook in the starter box is a bit small and difficult to read.)

I just think it is far too expensive, but that is because GW's strategy now is to charge very high prices to the people who are prepared to pay them, and let the rest of the customers drop away.

Perhaps it may be successful.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

So where does this put us in terms of the edition's life cycle?

How many months before the end of 6th edition did this type of product come out?

I don't remember exactly but it was within a year, at least. 6th came out 2012, the mini rulebook I'm sure came out sometime in 2013, probably 3rd/4th quarter, then 7th dropped this year.

So we could literally see 8th edition next year at this rate. Oh god, I don't even want to joke about it but I wonder, could GW really be that stupid? Can I bet on it, am I allowed to do that?

Well, 8th edition in 2015 is probably not a joke.
All codices could be updated by Jan. 2015 and then there would be room for another rule set, eventually slightly modified leaving the codices intact and creating a source of incoming money.

Well, the web survey came up when I went to look at this, so I told them what they could do with their overpriced mini rulebook and the website it's on.

I only wish they were listening, though. They'll probably see it as nothing but noise.

I'm still "learning" the 6E rules, and GW has given me no incentive to invest in 7E - and I'm not paying for a "rules fix" two years after I just got back in the game.

On moon miranda.

Eh, $58 is at least palpable relative to most other gaming core rulebooks. A bit on the higher end, but not the absurd $85 that the core rules are now.

I feel sorry for those New Zealanders and Aussies however, those prices are...absurd.

EDIT: oh, it's a small format book? $58 may be a bit harder to justify at that point...

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Anybody else bothered by the recent incompetence of GW to design a nice looking BRB cover? Red skull/HQ symbol is just...lame

and a Chaos star being on the back might not be pleasing to the loyalists (which make up the majority of 40k players)

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

The design of the cover art is the least of GW's current problems.

So, the full ruleset is £50.
That's 3 full size hardback books.

Now they give us 1 of those books, in a smaller format and charge over 2/3rds of the price of the full set of 3?
Sheesh.

To be fair, to most of the gamers, 2/3rds of the full set are worthless. One is the same fluff as every other BRB and the other is a hardback catalog.

I'd said from the launch that if they brought out just the rules book for under £30 I'd buy it. But £35 for a half-sized hardback? No way; I'm sticking with 6th Edition.

£35 is far too much for it. I might have bitten at £30, especially if it wasn't direct only, which would have meant I could have picked one up for £24 from Dark Sphere, who sell the 3-book main rules for £40. Given what you get for the main rules set (three large format hardbacks in a heavy duty cardboard case), I feel that the £50 price tag for that is about right.

This is the type of core item that I feel should be available in any FLGS.

£25-30 + P&P is what they ask on ebay for Stormclaw book. Sure, I could go for an auction, save a maximum of £7 or 8. Better make profit for GW, than resellers.

Huh? Do you think that GW doesn't make a profit when it sells to "resellers"? IE retailers..

And even that's scalping. The mini books on ebay are about half of the price of the big books from GW. That just means both are far too expensive rather than the GW hardback being a good deal. I suspect the eBay price will drop a bit to compensate though.
