Well, considering the people who did the attack are confirmed to be Muslims with ties to terrorism, shouted Allahjauahah akchabar or w/e during, claimed to be part of Al Quaeda....

So did this random white guy shout praise jesus? Is he a confirmed suspect linked to terrorist organisations?

Since no one has stepped forth, I proclaim myself the Supreme Overlord of Whiteness and condemn this cowardly attack.

As a spokesman for all surviving neaderthals I too condemn all attacks by rednecks with fireworks and cans of gas, unless they begin with the holy chant "Hold my beer and watch this."

I did 3 NTC rotations as a player, 2 as OPFOR, and one as an OC.

Also did JOTC back when we still had Ft Sherman, Panama.

Never made it to Polk.

So, this probably isn't a surprise to anyone, but it's been reported that the bombing was deliberate, and that the FBI JTF /Terrorism is investigating as well as the ATF.

PS, Newsweek kind of sucks so you might not actually want to read that source URL, just take my word that's what it says.

Also, the guy that owns the barbershop next door is pretty sure he wasn't the target.

I have faith they'll catch this dude. Anyone that poor at bomb making is likely to have left evidence and will get tracked down.

I suspect he'll get a prison term that will effectively end his hopes of dying free.

He probably was, simply because if you're American you're probably religious, and Christian. That doesn't mean the guy was motivated by any particular religious belief, especially as many people who identify with a particular religion aren't strongly motivated by it in anything they do. Double points for Christians in the US because saying "I'm Christian." is often an effective, reflexive response meant to terminate a line of questioning.

Are you saying, growing up in a christian household, in a christian church, and in a christian nation doesn't influence how people think and behave?

It might not be the primary motivation, but it could very well be the primary motivation, we'll hopefully learn that once the suspects are caught. I can find numerous terrorist acts done in the name of jesus, so it's not unheard of. Being raised christian does influence how people think, behave, and their decision making processes.

It's also quite interesting how defensive some people around here get, when their group is judged by the same standards they use to judge others.

A few anecdotal reports doesn't compare to the type of institutionalized violence we see committed by Muslims in almost every country on the face of the earth.

When you can show me a 'pillar' of Christianity is used to fund holy warriors and the spread of Christianity via violence (a portion of zakat collected is spent on jihad), and show me where Christian leaders use their version of the faith to justify the slaughter of others with a different interpretation of the New Testament, and show me where Christ in the New Testament through his teachings promoted violence, then you can argue about 'same standards'.

Until then, you really have no basis for comparison.

Trying to figure out how you're tying this with a straight face, so again you're just trolling.

There's no demonstrable evidence tying the attack to a religious motivation.

Try harder instead of just post comments to get a rise out of people.

No, of course it does.

What I am saying is that experiencing any, or all, of those things does not necessarily motivate someone to violent action.

Looking at the barber article it seems like whoever was attempting to set fire to the building was doing it at the exterior rear wall of the building which is concrete with some siding? Now I'm no expert in firebombing stuff, but I would assume that if really wanted stuff to catch on fire and burn the place down it'd make sense to actually make that attempt INSIDE the building where there's flammable stuff like carpets, wood, paper etc that would ignite a bit better.

Do you really not know that the KKK and other white extremist groups in the US are (self proclaimed) Christian? How would one live here and have any knowledge of the history of the country without knowing that? I mean links can be provided I suppose, it just seems odd that one would not know such a basic fact.

The KKK werent using core doctrine to justify it. Nobody I knows would immediately see a connection.

It was certainly not their primary motivation or reasoning behind their actions, unlike jihad is who are doing this for purely religious reasons that are part of the core tennants.

That isn't what you asked nor is killing others a core tenet for most Muslims, unless you suddenly think ISIS and the KKK both represent core groups of either. If you cherry pick The Bible or the Koran you can find some pretty heinous things.
