See I don't see how TS are bad. For 13 points you get a basic CSM. Standard marine stateline.
But for 10 points more you get a marine with a ton of extra rules.

We are all running unoptimised lists, my tau aren't anything scary, made up of mixed and match weapons and some of the least competitive units. My brothers themed list, is made up of a powerful hero and expensive troops, and that's about it. And our friends blood angels are mixed and matched units that cost a lot and don't do much outside of close combat.
On a side note, we had a discussion triggered by this thread, and we may start playing more competitively.
Well, their "bad" stuff can be a lot worse than your "bad" stuff.
That's the issue with non competitive play, there are at least a thousand shades of "non-optimal".

Because they die just as easy as that 13 point marine, but cost significantly more.

And the extra rules they get are rather sucky too.

Rules that don't really help them.

Because if you're not able to use those rules, you have nothing more than a marine you pay extra for. Bad players hate complicated units because they're difficult to use. 1ksons are a very complicated unit.
Better to go on a forum for a game you don't play anymore and gripe about game balance all day than to think for a moment about how to improve oneself as a player in a strategy game.

1Ksons are not complicated, they are situational. There's a big difference. And the situations where they are good don't occur enough in the spectrum of possible matchups.
