Thanks a lot guys! One thing that's great about the base spray painting I've done is that I can plop them down on the table as is and they wouldn't look out of place. Then I can take my time with the details, at least until I get impatient (which happens very quickly)

I'm not sure if I'm going to do the rest in the same color or do one color per numbered entrance (eg blue, green, yellow). What do you think?

@corpuschain: you really should! It's not really that hard, for example these started as walls and floor that I just glued random stuff to...

@Theophony that's quite a lot of bulkheads! I have 110 or so but I almost used up all my entranceways on this one project :(

Today I picked out some of my Esher girls for the new campaign were starting. I have close to 30 (!) and I'll be focusing on painting these for the time being. This is not my whole starter gang, I will add a couple of Juves as well.

This is a great thread, keep up the good work. It also makes me want to get into Necromunda again...

Have you been getting many of the older models through ebay, or have you been holding onto them for a while?

Thank you very much! Actually I bought most of these from local players who gave me some great deals on them. I got the Mad Donna model from a guy who didn't want money for it, so he got a couple of old Chaos Champions because he wouldn't accept more! I think the average I payed for all the models is around $3-4 per model (including two Heavy Plasma gunners).

So tonight I did the skin on 5 of the girls using my Scale 75 Flesh paint set, which has 8 paints in it. I really like their paints and I even used the little tutorial in the box for light skin. Although I don't have the patient for glazing over and over again to get smooth transistions, I think it went alright. Also did the eyes on the first two before I got too annoyed to continue. Making progress!

Didn't do too much exciting stuff today, mostly painted their weapons black. Then I spent like an hour trying to paint hair... It's impossible! I think this is the third or fourth time I've painted this girl's hair and it just doesn't look good enough. Either it's an indistinct blur of samey colors or the highlights are way too pronounced. I'll probably have to repaint it again... Would really appreciate some tips! Anyway, since pink hair girl was only my second necromunda mini, I've taken a comparison picture to show that the ones I'm painting now have much nicer skin now that I'm using the Scale 75 Flesh Paint set. I'll repaint pink hair's skin when I do the next batch of girls (right now I'm painting five at the same time and then there's two more plus pink hair girl to complete my starter gang).

The whole gang at the moment:

The girls have found themselves in a hairy situation!

Basically I painted hair on four of them, and it looks way better than miss Pink Hair up there. I figured out that using a flat drybrush allowed me to pick out individual strands without much trouble, and then it was just a matter of picking the most "Escher" colors! Basically it goes base color > wash > drybrush > highlight (another drybrush) > wash to bring back the color. Pretty happy with them as it stands.

Edit:

Ended up finishing the hair on these two fine rainbow sisters tonight:

Would love to see your take on them Theo!

Tonight I got the weapons done on some of the girls. Took a very long time (3 hours total) for what is a mediocre to ok result IMO, but at least the weathered metal looks fine. I picked a rather neutral color to avoid clash in with the hair colors, but I'm sure what to do with the clothes since I don't want them to be boring grey or brown. What do you guys think?

Thank you! Although looking at the pics, maybe I should go to individual instead of group photos? Dakka lowers the resolution so much that you can't really see much otherwise unless you click through.

I do like the hair colours, adds some nice character to the models, what have you got planned for the clothing?

Thanks a lot guys, it really means a lot to get good feedback! That's why I do this blog after all

And yeah C Lion, leopard print is definitely something I want to try... I'm just terrified of it!

Anyway, managed to sneak in an hour of painting while the little one was sleeping, and did the boots and pants of this girl. Painting shiny black leather boots is certainly time-consuming and I'll get plenty of practice on these models... It doesn't help that it's hard to see what you've actually painted since the black is quite reflective and I'm painting with very dark greys. note that there are leather straps on the boots that I didn't do yet, since I'll be doing all the brown leather at the same time.

Also these close-ups made me notice some slips with the brush on her skin, will have to fix those.

Great work on the ganger so far. I always had issues with finding a clothing color too. I wasn't sold on the yellow of the studio.

Lovely stuff. Really stirs up memories.

Something very different today... We are starting a Necromunda campaign in a few weeks, and myself and a friend from the club have been busy trying to put together the rules and fluff. So I would like to present to you, the nearly finished Port Hope campaign rules and background. I would LOVE to get some feedback on this, even just having someone taking the time to read it would be awesome. It's not more than a few pages as we're trying to keep it VERY simple. The Wasteland Treacherous Conditions table is stolen straight from the Ash Wastes supplement, so there's no need to read that, although I would love to hear your opinions on the Wasteland Exploration Table at the end of the document. As you can see when you read through it, the rules for one of the three game settings, Former Hive City Eden, aren't done. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I've arisen from the dead! I've realized that there is no way I can separate my hobbying into several blogs, since I do everything super slowly. So this is now my general hobby blog again! I've also not posted in a long time, because I wanted to show you something that was actually finished and not just countless WIP steps. So without further ado... here are my first completed Necromunda gangers!

The first ganger is Closer Carmilliani, wielding a shotgun and an auto pistol. I really like the colors on this one. The pink and sea green hair, the red shells on her belt and the yellow clothing. It all contrasts very nicely. As you can see I chose a very neutral beige tone for the weapons, since with the hair and clothing I thought it would be to busy with for example red guns.

And this crazy lady is Snatcher O'Donnell. She's a bit cross-eyed but god damn if I don't hate painting eyes. Only one hair color on this one, and I think it works well.

Blackout Tenenbaum has what is definitely my favorite name and probably my favorite hair as well. I just love that four-tone hairdo and you can bet if you see it in the distance... it's blackout time for you! Also notice the cool little pink mushroom.

This here is Reaper Jones and her Autoslugger... kinda small for an Autoslugger I guess, but I didn't want to use an unpainted Heavy Stubber model. I don't know if I like the yellow hair, maybe I should've made it sea green all the way through. What do you think?

Boomer Yamagawa here is the second Necromunda mini I painted (after a Juve I'm not posting here since I don't like her at all), when I hadn't yet bought my Scale 75 flesh paint set. That's why she looks a bit ruddy, which I suppose is fine since it provides some variation.

Lastly we have Punisher Callahan. She's actually not finished yet, as you can see, and both her boot and sword are unpainted. I still wanted to include her in this post since I'm pretty proud of her paint job, especially the robe. The fur looks pretty sloppy close up but it works from a distance.

So there you have it! Five completed gangers and one almost complete. What do you guys think? I've taken WAY too long to finish these, but such is life with small kids and horrible patience...
