What does Evolve bring to the table though? It's a mediocre game, in our opinion, which does NOT mean that it's bad. It's neither bad nor good. At start, it's refreshing, but it soon gets rather stale; it lacks variety.

Other than that...neither of us see what Evolve does wildly different from similar games. It's asymmetrical PvP which has been done in numerous other games before. Not sure what's so origininal :/

...the maps definitely aren't.

Evolve has done some great things. While simplistic, it breaks the mold that has been watering down and ruining the fps genre for years. Evolve is a breath of fresh air and its originality is praiseworthy. I don't understand why so much of the discussion about this game is just griping about downloadable skins.

Preordering sucks though. If you preorder, you dont know what youre buying. Especially with multiplayer-only games.
Besides, the game is just far too expensive for what it does. Theres no real substance behind it. DLC wont change that.

Gathering the Informations.

They had a fairly lengthy timeframe where people could play their "Open Beta"(read: demo) and make the decision whether or not to preorder.

That's when I did.

Aliens: Colonial Marines was the last game I'll ever pre-order unless there is some enormous discount and there are a lot of reviews out, done from a gold master. I would say A:CM was a failure of due diligence normally but as things developed, "fraud" might have been a more accurate word. Oh well, we did that thread already.

Anyway, still playing Evolve here and there, and it's OK, not great. I feel like I probably got my 36 bucks worth, though nowhere near as good a deal as when I got Titanfall for $5 on an Origin sale and it turned out that Titanfall was enormously fun.

I got the A:CM pre-order super special box as a gift (christmas or birthday, dont remember which) and while the game certainly had it's issues, I didn't mind playing single player because I got to kill bugs afterall...

But really, the only thing I still have from the game is the badass statue, and random bits that came in the box

To be fair, even with the replay value, the evacuation 'campaign' is only 5 missions long, and other than evacuation I don't see the point of single-player.

Ive mainly just played it COOP with friends and solo, and i'm still having fun.

Doesn't help that games that are coming out this spring/summer are mostly all crap for PC.

My bad, had it mixed up with a different one. I thought all they were offering was a couple of skins with the pre order.

Either way, still wouldn't have preordered. I don't like to buy things sight unseen anymore, I've been burned way too much. I don't care how much the "value" is, it doesn't matter what you save if the base product was crap to begin with. Heck, I won't even buy a book or a movie anymore without borrowing it from a friend or library these days, just like I don't like to buy models until I've either seen them in person or absolutely certain that they'll be up to snuff from several past experiences.

EDITS: I have no idea whats going on, my post was doing all kinds of weird stuff

Well that's fine, but, have people forgotten you can put five dollars down on a pre-order at Gamestop and then not pick it up until you hear reviews? All this talk of "I won't buy it if I don't know what I'm in for!" is kind of strange seeing how much information becomes available the day the game drops. If you don't like what you see/hear, let them know you want to cancel the pre-order.

I pre-ordered Dying Light and Evolve both and waited until I read reviews and decided to pick them up, no regrets on either.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.
