Oh yeah, getting hit with that thing is pound to cause some pain!

Right onto the first of the serfs

Ivanhem - Chapter Serf to Sergeant-Initiate Ferdinand

Like all Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes Sergeant-Initiate Ferdinand has a Chapter Serf attends to his needs and provides the Astartes with an armourer on the field of battle. In the case of the Black Templars chapter often this task will be shared with the Initate’s Neotype should he have one. In the case of Ferdinand however he simply makes do with his loyal servant Ivanhem. Ivanhem, shorter than most men, entered the service of the Black Templars after the Hurliat Cleansings and was selected from many thousands of desperate refugees. What stood him apart from others was his courage under fire and his background as a artist. Now instead of creating magnificent works of jewellery for the rich he devotes his time to the ceaseless maintenance of Ferdinand’s war gear.

On the field of battle he is often found following his master ensuring his armour is working at optimum efficiency and always ready to defend his master with his own body if necessary. Ivanhem rarely shows his face, instead keeping it up under his cowl feeling that his face is not worthy to be seen considering the magnificence of his master. For his part Ferdinand sees Ivanhem simply as a tool, a useful and refined tool but a tool none the less.

Very nice, he is indeed the perfect walking weapon stand. I also like the fluff of having a jeweler tend to the equipment of an Astarte, which are after all irreplaceable antiques and some of humanity's scarcest resources.
Starting to think I need to do such True Scale Marines/Serf couples too...But not loyalists of course ^^ !

Cheers, I thought that would be a good touch rather than just using the classic "failed aspirant" route for him. Oh you totally should! Heaps of opportunity for conversions, especially with Chaos.

Now it seems that I have exceeded my bandwidth while photobucket, I've begen rehosting all my pictures of a different site however this means I have to go through and relink every image again. That's going to take some time. Apologies about that. Now I remember why I stopped using photobucket.... dam irritating!

Brother Halix “Granite Born” of the Marines Exemplar Chapter – Adeptus Astartes

Brother Halix “Granite Born” was, like all Marines Exemplar born on the world of Necris and inducted into the Marines Exemplar at the age of 13. As a member of the Asartes Praeses, the 18 chapters who primary task it is to guard the Eye of Terror. As such the Marines Exemplar have unusually strong ties to the Inquisition. Halix, while not a member of the Chapter’s Veteran Company is a long serving marine who has been honoured with his assignment due to his ability to act with initiative. This trait is not always a blessing for a marine and as such when a member of the Astartes shows this trait there are two options. One is to drill it out of him and the other is to take advantage of it. Often this means working with the members of the 10th Company or being seconded to other Imperial Organizations. In the case of Halix, having completed tours as a Tactical, Assault and Devastator marine and not being seen as leadership material was immediately seen as being a prime candidate for secondment to either the Deathwatch or to the Inquisition.

Halix is one of the Chapter’s five representatives to Ordo Hectarius and has been for so long that he has been granted permission to wear the symbol of the Inquisition on his right shoulder pad and wrist. He has been serving with Speare for 8 years and like Ferdinand he is honour bound not to leave the retinue until Var has been brought to justice. The relationship between the two marines is cordial but not friendly, they respect each other but there is not what one would identify as a friendship between them. In battle they are simply too different with Ferdinand fighting at the front with a cool fury while Halix uses his heavy bolter to shred foes from afar and roars out orders to any seconded forces. Often Halix forms the anvil onto which enemy forces are crushed so steadfast and immovable is he.

Clad in a mixture of MK’s 6 and 7 battle plate he welds a modified Juliper Pattern Heavy Bolter that feeds from box mags. His backpack is also modified to serve as an autoloader for these mags and can reload the 200 round box magazine in 45 seconds. The backpack carries 1200 rounds and in addition to the 3 fully loaded magazines that Halix carries (one in his heavy weapon, one carried by his Serf and one preloaded and held in the backpack), this gives him a full load of 1800 rounds of heavy bolter ammunition before needing to restock from other sources. In addition he carries a Power Gladius, a less common variant of the power sword.

The Retinue of Inquisitor Bartholemu Speare

Shown above is one of the last pictures of the personal and bonded forces of the Monodominast Ordo Hectarius Inquisitor Bartholemu Speare. It is unknown if they succeeded in their goal of killing Icarus Var but what is known is that following events that took place on the Alpha Hab Dome on the asteroid mining base of Justice’s End GX105 on the very edge of the Crosscruxian Sector of the Segmentum Obscurus neither Speare nor Var were seen again. There are rumours of the sightings of a Marine matching Brother Halix’s description fighting for other Inquisitional elements in later years as well as at least one of the Brothers with shadowy Ordo Malleus Inquisitor of questionable means. Confirmed reports are hard to come by however.

Well that's it, they are done. Here is a side by side shot with my Ordo Xenos. I'm pretty happy with the way they both look very different from each other, it's not like you are going to get them confused at all is it!
