I find it really amusing that my Space Wolves, the one faction that always seems to generate and unbelievable amount of vitriol on these boards is currently in first place.

It really is a love them or hate them faction.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

Well in a toss up between Space Wolves, Dark Angels, and Black Templars, I went with Black Templars.

Nonetheless, it's good to see the other two well represented also.

Black Templars - because they look cool on the table with their chains and stuff.

Interesting. Despite their lackluster ruleset, it appears that the Black Templars are the coolest denizens of the Space Marine Codex.

Carcharodons. Because they scared the gak out of Corax, and spent the Heresy big timing it on the galactic rim rather than having daddy issues.

Welcome to Dakka, and have an exault!

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

Man this is a close race. Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels and Space Wolves all seem to top the charts.

And the only one not to have their own codex are the Black Templars......

Probably because it's not the rulesets that make 40K what it is.

Homebrew Imperial Guard: 1222nd Etrurian Lancers (Winged); Special Air-Assault Brigade (SAAB)
Homebrew Chaos: The Black Suns; A Medrengard Militia (think Iron Warriors-centric Blood Pact/Sons of Sek)

Carcharodon Astra. Nothing like reappearing after thousands of years on the galactic rim to intervene in the Badab War, having to literally present papers to the inquisition to prove you're loyalist because no one knows who the hell you are, and then being so cold-blooded and brutal every other chapter there says "damn." Then after the war is over, you claim a defeated chapter's planets, raid their armories to replace your lost wargear, make *all* the male children fight to the death to find suitable aspirants, then return to the void, never to be seen again (maybe).

I mean, that's badass. And since it's Forgeworld, Tyberos is an awesome model, and the rules are fluffy and reasonable.

... and exaulted.

Raven Guard shouldn't be on the list. Clearly, when you have to kick out a chunk of your Legion for being *too* awesome, you can't be very cool.

... and when you're idea of a distraction is to blow up the whole damned planet, clearly, you are the most bad-ass of them all. Right up there with Lobo.

Nope.

1) They're no longer Space Marines, they're daemons.

2) They're an Ultramarines successor, which is the least cool/badass origin a Chapter can have.

3) They were curb-stomped during the Badab War.

Being the current deus ex machina isn't cool.
