How did your opponent not know once you started using the apoc formation rules?
As a sisters player, you must punish yourself.
Tell your girlfriend you have cheated, on her, and she must cheat on you with this Tau player you know....
Kill your own cat, and wear its fur as a hair shirt for a year.
Give your Sisters army to someone who deserves them more than you.
I am joking Well, except for the cat. I hate cats.

Just by how you label on your topic, 'I kinda cheated' tells me you're TFG; you don't think its a big deal, which by itself isn't, but the problem come when you DECIDED not to tell your opponent before hand. The breach of trust is the issue, if I was your opponent, I would never play a game against you again.
Rules that are open to interpretation we can bend and argue over, but rules that are clear as day should not be breached. I put you in category of those people plays a 1503 in a 1500 pt game; rolling 2 dices at the same time for a single TL weapon.

Wow, we've never cried about 3 points over. Usually if it was less than 50 points, anyone in our group was ok with it. 3 points is almost nothing.

Saying "My list is three points over, is that okay?" is a lot different from just taking the 3 extra points without asking.

While you should have informed your opponent, it's clearly not a big issue since he didn't mind it. You will find that's not always the case though. Chalk the responses up to good luck with the opponent you had, and do it right next time.

Those aren't really the same. Bringing 1503 points to a 1500 point game is blatant cheating, rolling two dice at once for a twin-linked weapon is just taking a shortcut with the dice that is exactly equivalent to rolling and then re-rolling misses. Anyone who objects to rolling two dice at once just doesn't know how dice work.

If those three points aren't a big deal then remove them from your list and don't ask to break the rules.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

You cheated. End of story. It doesn't matter if the guy was okay with it after...that doesn't make it 'not cheating'. If you had told your opponent first before the game then fine, but saying nothing and knowingly cheating and then asking on the forum whether it is okay is a little disturbing. It is also disturbing the number of people that don't think it is a big deal. Yes 40K is a mess and unbalanced but cheating is still cheating.
Is it okay for me to re-write the lousy nid dex so that the units operate the way I believe they should and then using them in a game without telling my opponent - not everyone knows everything about all the armies. It is the same thing when playing a 1500 point game and showing up with 1510 or whatever and saying nothing (making an assumption that this is okay for the other person or that you don't care what they think anyways - justifying your actions to yourself). I hope you realize from this thread how wrong your actions were but I am concerned you don't consider it a big deal based on your wording of the OP.

Don't be harsh, the Gamblers' Fallacy is a huge part of enjoying this game.

Well yeah, we didn't just take the points. If we went over, we made sure to say something before the game started. and the response was always, "Sure, that's no problem."
