Subject: Paypal fee's, responsibility of the buyer?

Really? Getting a certain amount of money for your toys is a fundamental human right now? I learn something new every day...

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Has no one brought up the fact that charging the buyer your Paypal Fee's violates Paypal's Terms of Service?

Fairly silly. I don't see why people don't just sell for a flat rate. You know the fees, work it into your price if you want.
I sell things to people using credit cards and pay 1.5 to 3.5%. I sell for cash and lose nothing. I sell on ebay and pay 9% plus the paypal charge.
Everything has costs associated with selling. Making the buyer pay those fees simply raises the cost to the seller.

Perhaps I am behind on my technology. The Paypal card reader allows you to swipe someone's credit card through e-mail? I was under the impression that those were only useful for in-person transactions. Magical!
So your example is not relevant to the discussion. I can't pay you on Dakka using your Paypal card reader unless I am standing in front of you. And if your Paypal card reader can key in my credit card number I'd still have to send you that information remotely, yes? Again, if you're sending your CC info to strangers please trade with me. I hear there is a new Warlord titan for sale and I'd love to get three.
I don't know why the hell anyone would give a CC # over the internet , and why you assume that I would give it out? Since paypal obviously lets you pay without doing. Maybe you should've left the discussion when you said you were, you obviously are upset about this topic being brought up and it being justified.
As stated earlier, it is against Paypals policy to make the buyer pay for the Fee's even though the most sinister way is to obviously the way to go.

It's all up to discussion prior to buying. Vast majority of time it's the seller who pays fees. If you as a seller want the fees paid you need to incorporate it into the price.
I will not pay them after I already sent money. Once a deal is struck it's done.
And never ever send money buying stuff as gift or family. Automatically Appended Next Post:
If the buyer sends payment as a gift, Paypal will charge the buyer. So, that isn't always correct. And you clearly aren't interested in discussing this so much as ranting to the internet, so I am ducking out of this conversation.
Good luck with your purchases!
Word of advice
Dont. Ever. Send. Money. As. Gift. It's utterly foolish as you no recourse if something goes wrong.
