If colonial history teaches us anything is that 'killing them all' only works in small and isolated communities unless you literally mean killing everyone, which is problematic to say the least. Moderation breeds extremism. This is where extremists eventually come from - They're brought up with moderate ideologies and moderate holy texts, but that doesn't mean that they will adopt them. Those texts and ideologies can be and are interpreted in extreme way.
I don't know what the answer is, but encouraging 'moderate ideologies' will just breed next generations set of terrorists. To be honest, I don't think there are any answers or solutions. Some might call that pessimistic, I call it reality.

feth! I was brought up on a moderate ideology of tolerance and respec for the rule of law. I must be on the edge -- someone stop me before I do something we might all regret, like call on users to remember the forum rules and stop plastering prejudice across whole racial, ethnic or religious groupings.
Aye, this thread has gone so far off topic in such a short number of posts it is unbelievable. In fact, I do believe that this is a record for Dakka.

Congratulations to the Sniper whom prevented those executions. Though to be fair, given the SAS training that was probably like shooting cans on a wall at 10 metres for him.
