Hmmmmm... So are we talking just 30k games or 30k versus 40k then? I play 30k Night Lords, Mechanicum, and Solar Auxilia... So not worried about Primarchs. Wouldn't have been when I played nids either.

And yeah alot of it sounded like whine.

IDK, but I dont play 30K so I cannot comment (though the power level does seem a lot higher). But I do play 40K and I can honestly say that against Guard Primarchs are nigh unkillable. I have fired half my entire ARMY art one and I only took 2 wounds off. In a 2K game

Well remembering that this was the "primarch" your cheater buddy was running I'm not actually sure that's an accurate example of how it should have worked.

Who knows if he was even using real rules for the blasted thing.

My Star Wars Imperial Codex Project: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/641831.page
It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

Yeah, you should not use a cheater as an example of how something is OP.

Lot of bad info in here, primarchs are in no way op, they are very powerful to overcosted in some cases.

Fulgrim: has a very expensive 5++ save bodyguard, he also only has a 5++ out of combat, this make him a teq with t6, how do teqs do these days?
Angron has an amazing multi wound body guard, however they cannot run, so need at least a spartan to move around, all in all were talking nearly 1k pts in one unit. Angron on the charge will absolutely wreck a knight, but it's angron... What else do you expect

Horus suffers from the same issue as fulgrim, bad bodyguard and expensive transport, but much more survivable to shooting when alone.

Corax is very vulnerable to shooting but otherwise a pain to pin down, best taken alone.

Peturabo, vulkan and ferrus all suffer from low attacks so are easy to tarpit, just don't send your elites at them.

I could go on, suffice to say all the primarchs suffer from similar issues, all are at least 6-1000pts, they need bodyguards and a transport to function properly, where as other lords of war such as all the knight variants (wraith, titans etc ) can function quite easily alone

Vs 40k the primarchs are good to weak, simply due to the sheer amount of high str low ap weapons out there, I'd never take a primarch vs tau for example, they'd steam roll it, bar a few of course.
