Wraithknight no contest. Undercosted as feth too.

I see wraiths have come up here, as a necron player I'd say yes they are tough and the ultimate tarpit but they really can't hurt anything with armour as you rely too much on rending. I use them primarily for tying up dangerous units for the game, but I've frequently gone a whole game with them still locked in combat with terminators, knights, or other death stars. Wraithknights hew through them effortlessly with stomp.

Tau Commander.

Coordinated Firepower is a mistake of a rule. It's total nonsense.

I rescind my earlier submission. Not only is this the most problematic unit, it is the most problematic rule supplanting Stomp, Destroyer, and Seize the Initiative.

Coordinated Firepower is the new Virus Outbreak, and like that, should be torn into pieces and agreed that it doesn't exist.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Freelance Ontologist

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

The Pyrovore "Volatile" rule was especially egregious as written.

Basically, as it was printed, if the Pyrovore suffered an attack that inflicted ID (T4), every unit on the table (or every unit, everywhere, in the multiverse) suffered a S3 AP- hit for every model within d6" of the Pyrovore.

Boom.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

What's funny is the Apocalypse version of the Transcendent CTan is still totally legal in 40k games by virtue of being in the Escalation book.

Codex to codex balance is still far off but there had not really been a Jace the Mind Sculptor or Affinity for 40k.

Nope, this is utter nonsense. With the streamlined nature of MtG and how it has probably several million games played than 40k each month, things like Jace and Affinity don't even come close.

Honestly, Jace and even Raffinity are jokes compared to what is happening in 40k for the past ten years.

I'll pluck you like a flower.

The Buffmander, if the broad interpretation of Coordinated Firepower is correct (which I doubt, but for the sake of argument).

Not sure any players would let it get played that way especially when most consider the new version being it's replacement. or be prepared to be TFG!

A couple guys I play with actually miss the dude. Gave them a reason to bring their own nastiest units. Of course, the new Necron codex by itself is probably now reason enough for my opponents to bring their nastiest units. I haven't played with the Escalation T'Ctan since the new codex came out. I just found it a bit surprising when I looked into the legality of the unit. There's nothing written anywhere that I can find saying you can no longer take him, and there is a rule in the BRB that explicitly says you can take him...I wonder if people use him in tournaments and such. I'm guessing not, but he's still there to be had if you have an Escalation book and are willing to argue the point.

Is it written anywhere as a rule that new units with the same name and model replace old units?...I know its sort of common sense, but I wonder if there's a specific rule.

To have games with massive destruction??? Because Eldar are passing out D weapons like candy? I dunno. I'm not seriously considering using the rules, nor recommending that others do so. Just seems to me like it would be legal to do so if somebody argued the point at a tournament or something...at least there'd be an argument to make about it.

Interesting point. I checked and GW still sells the Escalation book; though the Faq hasn't been updated since 2014. Since you already mentioned that the model is represented with more recent rules. I'm guessing no TO will rule in favor.

Still think it meets the OP's intent. Most OP unit not most broken rule(s).
