Yeah, that's pretty much all I need to know here. For someone who claims to be primarily an RTS player, you don't really know much, at all, about the genre.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Ya sorry I only boght the good ones made by companys I know put out good games. Sorry. Dow 2 still a failure tho, even after the companys who made dow 1 disbanded they have a larger following and inspired more mods then dow 2 . People wanted to play dow 1 no one cares about dow 2

Meh, I had an argument at one point, but then accidently closed the window. So wahtever. But at this point, we're just talking past each other any way. You view the only games worth drawing from are the ones made by or emulating Blizzard's Craft series, and I view that there's a long history of games that could provide a lot of fresh ideas in to the genre. And we're not apparently not going to reach any sort of accord about this-- certainly I can never see myself agreeing with your narrow view of the genre, when it has so much history going for it, so much untapped variety, that your view is frankly a hideously boring one to me. So I'm just gonna agree to disagree here.

I think what's important to realize about the DoW series is that it isn't the same game it started out as - a giant battle system based around the traditional ideas that every RTS was born from. Not a bad thing and, for some, still a great deal of fun and what they want in their 40k games.
DoW2 was, to me, much more personal. You met each sergeant, each character and a story (of sorts)for each of them was told. Combat felt much more visceral and more in-your-face, mainly because you weren't wielding six ten man squads of marines and five or six tanks and various other support elements. I played the MP very little for DoW2, and I wasn't a fan, mainly because I didn't care about squad engagements in the 40k universe; the setting, to me, always demanded a much bigger stage, something DoW1 did.
I hope that they take both into account for DoW3, naturally this means both sides will bitch and complain about their opinions and feelings being ignored, but that's just how gak is today.

I think that it looks great. I don't get what people have against the style - have you not seen how colourful and cartoony the tabletop looks?

The Kasrkin were just men. It made their actions all the more astonishing. Six white blurs, they fell upon the cultists, lasguns barking at close range. They wasted no shots. One shot, one kill. - Eisenhorn: Malleus |
