What do you call 6000+ points (my Skaven and Bretonnians), roughly 7000 points (Dwarves), or 14,000+ points (Dark Elves)?

Still "huge".
Once you start pushing past 5k, it's excessive to the point that you won't be able to field it.

I dunno. 1,000 pts of each type would seem to be plenty enough - I mean, how much could you possibly summon back in WFB 8E?
Same with Daemons (esp. Horrors) and Tervigons? How many could one possibly make in a game?

Multiple huges armies.. Seriously the only way to be really effective against an opponent is to have played with his list. I am always curious on how other armies play and I find it extremely convenient to play against an opponent who uses an army I also own and I play with.

Got milk?
All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...
PM me if you are interested in Commission work.

So buying loads of heavy armour would then ruin my fluff, so i have considered making a separate IG army with loads of tanks.
I would just build one big IG collection. Then you could play it as your infantry army or a tank army. I don't see the need to duplicate all your infantry and support weapons just to have two totally separate sets of figures (unless you just want to paint two different IG armies, like Cadians and Vostroyans or Catachans and Death Korps).

I played a 13,000 point game once. Took darn near every DE model I had at the time - and all day to play - but we did it.
Was a blast, too!

Yeah! Big games are great. I typically play one or two massive apocalypse games a year with a friend of mine who lives in Kent; he drives up to mine, we have an evening of board gaming, then the next day we travel to GW Warhammer World and play a massive game of 40K. Usually around 10,000 points a side or more - last time was Chaos versus Blood Angels. Most of his Space Marine models are Rogue Trader or 2nd Edition, and we don't play anything that's not painted. The spectacle is almost more fun than the playing!
