Yay. I am not as ignorant as I thought. If anyone wants one of these I ship worldwide wide at gw's standard shipping rate. (about 200% of the items value).

So, Shizuoka or one of the hobby shows is going on in Japan right now. Guess what made an appearance.

Now, I can't read all of the placard, so I'm not sure if they're still 28mm, but I'd guess they are. The odd thing though is that these are apparently being produced by Max Factory.

Those are actually pretty nice looking. I mean, I expect too expensive for what they are, but they look pretty good. Looks like they're keeping regular marine armor style, FWIW, and comparing height to base looks the same current scale.

That sprue doesn't look like the standard GW sprue. The 'pipes' are circular and there's a flat bit showing the name. Looks more like the sprues you'd see for Bandai Gundam stuff.

Pretty smart. Snap-fit-esque pre-coloured Space Marines for the Gashapon crowd in Japan. That's smart marketing. Nothing special here (outside of collector-driven completionists) - but very clever marketing.

Well done.

(Patiently waits for the world to explode if a Series 2, or Series 3 features plastic Eldar Aspect Warriors somehow...)

Judging from this unfortunately solitary image, they do appear to be blind boxed. It is weird that they're using more traditional plamo sprues as well, rather than the more typical GW sprues. Strangely enough, I noticed that GW's copyright info is visible on that sprue on the bottom of the pic. I also notice the stamp is dated 2017, so these are all new sculpts. I'm curious what role Max Factory is playing in this since this display was at their booth and their logo is on the placard.

The Harajuku Warhammer shop has additional pics with clearer shots of the placard. I'd quote, but I'm on my phone. Still, they confirm that this is a collaboration between Max Factory and GW. It also confirms the price at ¥750 per figure. Release date is only listed as 2017 though. Nothing more specific.

In japan this kind of thing sell like hotcackes. I think they are gamblers by genetics, they love blind boxes with small things inside

A wider angle on the same shot, showing what I presume is a themed box (and not a cardboard Rhino!). This is taken from HLJ's coverage of the Shizuoka event, but unfortunately these kits aren't mentioned in their video coverage.

Yeah, it's called Pachinko and it's a hell-hole of noise and cigar smoke

I'm fairly certain I have a marine exactly like the one with the missile launcher. I'm hoping at least some of them feel unique in some way.

Well that's unusual. Max Factory (the nendroid/Figma people) doing Warhammer stuff, the fact they're blind bags and the fact they're region-specific. Hopefully some of the importers will be able to get them.

I'd happily buy a couple of the Rhino boxes

Honestly, this would sell big time here in the US to younger kids (a great way to introduce a kid to warhammer minis with the excitement of blind boxing). Even moreso if you had some genuine rare heroes etc.

A ultra simple game with mono pose and fit-without glue warhammer40k miniatures in blind boxes, with special characters in the mix. Thats a million-dollar idea! I'm gonna sell it to GW right now!

I found a shop out in the rice fields of the western part of the island that actually stocked GW stuff, so I ought to go check it out when these release.

The store was literally built into the space that existed underneath the escalator. It was both the saddest and coolest little shop I've ever seen.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

And my earlier incorrect currency calculation will probably be accurate to what the ebay resellers are asking for them on day 1 if that's the case.

There was a cool knife and incense (3 wolf moon shirt type of thing) shop in a mall I used to go to with a similar setup. Before amazon that place was like a candy store. Now you can find all that stuff directly from the importers so those cheap swords cost $10 instead of $60..

Hopefully they have them. Pics if they do please

From the war of sigmar blog we have a pic of all the marines. Maybe the last old scale marines for a while.
