Leaving in 50 mins - only takes 30 to drive to Excel, 15 to park and 10 to queue for a coffee Plenty of time to join the holding queue for opening time...

The Mantic stand seemed to be the place everyone rushed to first thing, that queue was crazy for a while and they only had really limited stock of the convention exclusives and the new retail packs. The staff were not expecting the rush and pretty overwhelmed. Was really surprised that I got there quick enough to get Lee & Clem convention pack and the not released until next month Negan and King Ezekiel boosters.
Modiphus stall was extremely busy with people trying to get more Fallout info out of them following last nights announcement. I was trying to spend £100 on a bundle there but given how overwhelmed they were they couldn't locate one of the items from it so walked away with nothing (I will order online at some point as can get the same deal there but no rush).
Warlords sold out of Test of Honor core boxes before 10 due to overwhelming demand so that was clearly doing well. They also had a lot of interest in Doctor Who but not sure how much of that was turned into sales.

What a show - majorly busy at the start - a lot easier after lunch... Great time though - lots to see and buy but limited myself massively to my £33 pre-order with Zinge, a Warlord Sherman M4 (£16 from PE2 Collectibles) and a 'not' Oddball / Donald Sutherland figure (£4 from Studio Miniatures) - Guess what I'll be doing with the Sherman...
Goody bag and purchases...
Zinge pre-orders...
Popped over to the MEdge stand to say a quick hello to the chaps - great to meet you all again (and thanks for the free dice) - and well done for surviving the day, hope it was a profitable adventure for you all. Didn't kick Lego in his false leg...
Show summary...

Despite a horrific queue, we weren't packed in like sardines ala Comic Con.
Bought loads, majority is for my Loot Sharing group - including the previously sold out Sons of Horus and Word Bearers dice from FW - five sets in total, all bought to order.
I can't recommend attending enough. I'm pretty much a GW 'purist' gaming wise, but it was nice to see what else is out there in the industry.

An excellent day. Always good to have a look at all the different games out there, and all the pretty games and models.
Managed to get away with only a couple of purchases - some pigs for a guildball goal for butchers, and the two new MEdge books. Plus the two free event miniatures too.
Great to pop by the MEdge stand and have a chat about the games with them all (and pick up cool free dice too!)
We got there about 11 at which point you could just wander straight in without waiting, it seems to work more easily as less faffing around to start with

Another great one. This year is marked by loads of free minis and goodies… seriously I got something like 8 miniatures totally free
Took plenty of pictures and found some really new upcoming projects with fresh miniatures. Will do the ussual report later once I sort out the pics.
Feet on the sofa and reading another freebie ( a full colour 300 page rulebook from wild west exodus ) mental.
So I've heard about salute for years. I've never been. Chicago is a long way off from there. However can someone please tell me how does this compare to GenCon? What is the closest US compareable? Thanks.

Plus, for our Colonial Chums, by late April the British Weather is often not being an arse any more, so probably a good time for a wider holiday in London - and with decent transport links, Kent might prove a good county to base yourself in. We also have Castles.

Thanks for the photo dump. I really enjoyed looking at those. I also saved some for the terrain inspiration folder.
Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Salute is a one-day event. As you can see from the videos it's basically one giant exhibition hall with a smattering of gaming tables mixed in. It is pretty focused on miniature gaming. Gen on is a multi-day event (I think like wed or thurs to sun) that focuses on all types of gaming, so miniature gaming is just one element. Certainly attendance over the whole Gencon is larger than Salute's one day, although I'm guessing that Gencon's one day tally is still larger (though I don't know for sure). Gencon has many different rooms filled with different types of gaming, besides a massive vendor hall.
Adepticon is the US's largest con focused mainly on miniature gaming but again is a multi-day event (Wed-Sun). One-day attendance is likely much smaller than Salute (around 1,500), but there is much more gaming going on in many different rooms.
So ultimately what makes Salute different is that it is a one-day event mainly focused on having one giant vendor hall.
Did anybody catch a glimpse of the new Maelstrom's Edge stuff? Any good?
