"t's been the same list building strat since 7th."
In 7th:
-Hit DE? Lose
-Hit Harlies? Lose
-Hit Corsairs? Lose
-Hit CWE? Win
So a 1/4 chance.
In 8th:
-Hit DE? Win
-Hit Harlies? Lose
-Hit Corsairs? Can't even play
-Hit CWE? Win
So a 2/4 chance.
Methinks you hyperbolize. DE have been trash through a couple editions up until their 8E codex. Harlies are decent, but not top-tier on their own. And Corsairs make GK look OP.
As for individual units, that was really only true of the 7e CWE book. Almost everything in it was terribly broken. Post-CA, the CWE book approaches the same position, but the DE, Harlie, and Corsairs books are nowhere close. And those three were much worse off in 6E/7E.
Eldar are OP, but lets keep things honest.
@Karol,
Hellions are DE. His point is that there's trash in the CWE books, too. Look at Incubi for DE. It's like having Strike Squads. Minus any sort of gun. And Psykic Powers. And 'Troop' status. DE > GK, yes. But not every DE unit is a winner.
@OT
For Iyanden, remember that Uthwe's trait does better reducing the bracketing penalties than Iyaneden. Which is hillarious. The numbers have been run many, many times on the Wraithlord to show that, as you lose wounds, Uthwe's Wraithlord is in a higher bracket than Iyandens more often than the other way around. On top of living longer.
For Alaitoc, remember that it can be good on shortrange stuff too. It incentivises the enemy to close within 12", which is where half the CWE book wants you.
For Biel-Tan, remember it doesn't stack with an Autarch. And, for fluff, Biel-Tan usually wants an Autarch. Also, underslung guns are all Shuriken.
For Saim-Hann, remember you don't want to risk long charges. And it doesn't stack with the CP reroll.
